If you're not getting an X1 for specific games get a ps4. It has better overall performance, not just for games.

I also prefer my PS4 but if price is an issue Walmart has a pretty kickass deal on an XBox with Fifa starting tomorrow.

Plus EA Access is pretty sweet for games.

I'm still formulating my overall opinion on many different aspects of the game, but there is one major fail in the game: Player Moral.

Up there with one of the most flawed and gimmicky failures of the series thus far. I can't imagine it makes it into NHL 17, and if it does it better be optional.

Generally, though, this is a pretty solid iteration. Basically took 90% of the aspects of 15 and improved on them tremendously. Great to see a fleshed out game combined with the capabilities of next gen. I'm still exploring and playing around with a lot of it, but I'm fairly impressed.

Some minor complaints so far (board pinning continues to miss the point, AI is better but still lacking, player switching is still completely illogical, glitches in player creation), but I expected that.

I skipped NHL 15 after reading the awful reviews but decided I couldn't spend two years off from my favourite video game and just got 16.

Firstly I will say it is still my favourite video game and I am going to sink a lot of hours into it over the hockey season. That said though, I am disappointed the game has not changed in 2 years and the same fluke goals still go in.

I also cannot stand the user interface which is making Be a GM mode a chore. I played a bit of FIFA 15 last year and have to say it was one of the best sports games ever made. The simple interface and fun game play turned me from a Soccer skeptic to someone who now understands and follows the Champions League. The NHL 16 interface has the opposite effect, it has the potential to change a huge hockey fan into someone who is extremely frustrated by hockey.

Yes fluke goals go in, but they also do in real hockey. The whole thing is now about balance. Sticks break, cpu players get penalties but most of the things are not unrealistic in comparison to real hockey as a simulation. The real work needs to be done in the corners;

when a bunch of players go into a corner things turn into a pinball match and everyone just bounces off eachother and charging in for a hit usually won't result in a good hit. You'll just kind of slide along side the opponent. In real hockey they can push the other players off their trajectory more easily with their arms and shoulders and pinning/clearing the net is easier. In this game things get real floaty in crowded areas.

Also pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition from EBGames, which is supposed to give me 2 gold packs every week for 25 weeks (EBGAMES) and another 2 gold packs every week for 20 weeks (Deluxe Edition).

Result?: 1 gold pack.

It must be jammed up with new users and codes because my other two packs came this morning.

I was sure it was supposed to be 2 packs from EBGames, but I guess I misread. Oh well, still a pretty good value regardless.

I think this may have been posted here, but it's a good enough read to check out if you missed it. It touches on the reactions of super fans when they get invited into the development process. One thing that stuck out to me was that somebody noted how surprisingly small the team is. What we see as obvious annoyances are probably on their radar, but they don't exactly have FIFA levels of hands-on-deck.

How in depth is BaP? Can you play in Junior, or the AHL?

Yes. You can choose to start as young as 16 and get to select which CHL team to play on. You can also skip that entirely and start at the draft.

BaP is 100x better than last year, as is much of the game.

Maybe NHL15 was just so bad that my bar was lowered a ton, but NHL16 is a massive improvement.

So I guess I got a pre-order bonus code from Amazon for 15 free gold packs of HUT for the PS4 version. I doubt I'll play much HUT if any so the first person to respond can have it. It expires Monday.

I won Sami Vatenen from the auction house in HUT, but it is glitching. Every time I try to start a game with him in the lineup, he disappears from my roster. Frustrating.

Just reset the game/console and it should be fine. A small glitch. If that doesn't work just unplug your console for 20 seconds and reset.
