I have to wait another two days for the game to release overhere.
Can anyone give me current HUT prices (roughly) for Johnny and Mony? (PS4)

I love how it actually feels like you have teammates this year. They poke check and swing at loose pucks. In years past they just felt like floaters waiting for you to take control. I'm still in preseason, but so far the feel of it is top notch.

So I want it on record that I didn't buy the game....my wife did as a present for me.

Anyways, it seems OK thus far though teammates defensive coverage seems generally poor and reminiscent timbit hockey and the first thing my daughter (8) says is "why do the people in the crowd look like a bunch of zombies".

One thing and I admit I haven't dug around a lot....how the heck do you change it to manual line changes? I hate the game choosing my lines for me and constantly making bad changes.

bennet has been a beast for me in my season mode (have him on a 3rd line wiht bouma/colborne), and he's been amazing in HUT (4th line C).

Recommend buying this game

-Lag online has disappeared mostly for me, 6v6 is silky smooth 99% of the time

-Eashl is a lot of fun, they didn't fix the ability for players to pause and whatnot but the rest is really good

-the gameplay itself is fantastic, it actually feels like hockey most of the time. There are very few goals that are unfair and usually are a result of mistakes. The skating is amazing, it feels like actually skating. Johnny hockey feels like playing as Johnny, Brodie like Brodie, Dougie like Dougie etc. Watching Johnny backcheck for a second looked like real hockey.

-The best part is the improved collisions, skating and animations, hitting someone actually feels like hitting someone and the weird magnety sliding off of players is mostly gone. I had a guy playing keep away in my zone and I couldn't get the puck, but it wasn't frustrating because it wasn't EA bs where you hit a guy and he bounces off, the opponent had such good skating and stick handling that it was a skill differential that was visibly apparent. Not a single game ended up with me losing that felt unfair, no out shooting 40-9 and losing. Great game, has some minor glitches but it's a massive step forward especially in terms of animations and skating, actually looks like hockey

^ agreed .

It's by far the best NHL game ever released. The changes in skating, puch mechanics, AI and ability to defend, though aren't anything revolutionary at their core, but really progress the enjoyment of the NHL game by a huge margin. Like it's FUN to play.

Let's hope that they don't screw this up thru tuner updates. I'm also hoping this isn't just my online honeymoon period. That's the phase just after the game releases, where trying to play the game as real as possible (cycling, tryign shots from everywhere, etc) is still the means thru which everyone plays. This ends when the 3 sure way to score mechanisms become apparent and becomes a game of just trying to get to the glitch spot to score (which i'm no good at, making online just a frustratingly annoying experience).

I started the single player season mode in HUT to check it out and played the casual league. Kept winning 20-0 so I figured why not try the hardest level. It's no joke, the computer is actually tough to play against this year which makes the game much more enjoyable.

Bennett is a beast for sure even at an 80 ovr. I'm really liking the big players this year. My John Scott - Kevin Hayes - Joe Colbourne has been a deadly line. Controls the puck down low so well.

After a bunch of games (versus online) skating slowly from the corner across the goalie and shooting far side appears to be 1 of the sure goals, which makes no sense. I can see if a guy is skating full speed, he can beat the goalie's positioning. But slowly, the goalie has all day to keep with the shooter and react to what he's doing. It's like the guy is hypnotizing the goalie as he goes past.

I started up a HUT team last night because I had the 15 or so packs for preordering. Named myself after the Flames and managed to score the jerseys and the dome (which I assume is standard). My last pack though? Doug. Fn. Gilmour. He scored 2 goals in 6 minutes of my first game and my opponent quit. It was spectacular.

That is SWEET, I enjoy HUT, it is about the only mode I play. This year has been a bust for me opening packs, so far spent about $50 on packs, had 10 pre order packs, 10 returning packs, and 2 weekly packs, best card so far, a 86 Hossa!!

I played with the drills and practicing a bit and I have to say this is easily the best hockey game ever.

Just skating around with the puck on open ice practicing wish the skill stick is like playing real hockey. I played real hockey for 19 years and there there were certain drills to improve skating, practicing them in this game improves skill with the controls because of how precise they are. It really feels like playing hockey especially with how fluid the animations look.

I recommend making the camera in game the same ones as in practice because if the camera moves around and there's auto zoom it's really hard to control because of how sensitive the controls are.

For those playing, PS4 or XB1?

I might take the plunge on a console, but am still on the fence as to which one.

XB1. You can get the games early for 10 hours through EA Access.

Noticed at EB that the display and the game cases still have Kane on them.

Awkward...

I have both and my XB1 just collects dust. But if you're only going to get one, look up the exclusive games and decide which games you like. Or which one your friends use.

And Be A Pro coach feedback can be really awful at times. "Long shift" shouldn't be a negative thing if my team has possession in the offensive zone. Am I supposed to give the puck away and skate to the bench?
