I guess it depends on how much he dislikes his role right now and how much he feels like Treliving wants him gone. Also, if it's a team that he'd consider signing with long-term, that could play a part in his decision.
I doubt that Treliving would move him to a Western bubble team either. You never want a player you traded away to come back to bite you later.

It has been reported that the Leafs are asking for a 2nd and 3rd or 2nd and prospect for Winnik.
Winnik is probably the closest comparable to Glencross on the UFA market.

Jesus, I can't believe I'm agreeing with every word you said here. What is this world coming to?..
On a more general note, people that come up with these super-sweet trade scenarios where we would get a top-notch prospect along with some decent players and picks are day-dreaming. This is not a "fair market trade" from our perspective. Treliving is going to get whatever he can for Glencross in the next 10 days, because this train has gone. The player wants to move on and the player has all the strings to control the deal. If it's a 3rd pick, or even a high 4th pick from the team where Glencross wants to go, this will be done, I think, regardless of how low the fan-base may perceive the actual trade value.

I think that if we get offered a 2nd or higher, take it. But if we don't get that offer, I think we should target an NHL ready player who can step in and help. Either a RWer or a defenceman that can step into the 3rd pairing and maybe handle some decent minutes to take the pressure off the top 4. Or is that too far off what Glencross might return?

I disagree. I don't think we trade him unless we get a 2nd or better. And I think we get better than a 2nd.

Nothing wrong with asking for a 2nd and a prospect.
Very curious as to what Brett Connolly's value is, as mentioned previously.

Trading Glencross right now would be selling low. We have limited destinations. He hasn't scored in a long time... I really don't think anyone is going to be giving up a lot for him.
|
If that's the case then don't move him. The Flames have too many players of a similar ilk

I just hope this doesn't leave a hole in the room in terms of chemistry

I'd be more than happy if the Flames walked away with a late 2nd and something like a 4th for Glencross.

Probably the closest comparison yes, but my guess is that most teams, given the choice, take Glencross over Winnik.

Based on his comments at the moment, I think the chemistry in the room will probably be greatly improved.

All I remember is Winnik always scoring against us with the Avs, Sharks and Ducks. Wouldn't mind that acquisition at all.
Edit: But yeah, he's a good comparable to Glencorss in terms of value. We should be asking for a 2nd plus, or a capable dman if possible.

I'd rather have one good prospect that has developed a year or two from his draft year.

Honestly, I'm surprised Glencross even gave a list. Even if nothing happens, this is good diligence by Treliving. And honestly, chances are low something will happen. If half the teams in the league have inquired about him and he'll accept a move to 6 (average of 5-7), a simple probability tree suggests there's a 10% chance of a deal. That's before things like asking price and offer price are considered.

Would love to see the Flames land a 2nd for Glencross. If they can somehow squeeze something more like a 3rd or 4th even better. I'd much rather see us draft and develop our own guys than take a lower level prospect from another team.

Seriously. Playing on a young, hungry team in the middle of a playoff chase ... crying about ice time.
Peace Glenny.

Sort of where I'm at too. If he wanted more ice team he knows exactly what he has to do to get it.

Ya, I agree. If he is performing, he gets more ice time. I love that motto.
That is exactly how coaches should work, just because you are a vet and are paid a better salary than most on the team in the forward group, doesn't automatically give you ice time.
Hartley is doing a great job managing his players and making them earn everything.
If he doesn't want to be a part of this team and the culture, he can go and I am glad they are entertaining a trade before the deadline.
