If i remember correctly "loob" said he had inside info and was in the "know". Could be wrong though. I remember not believing his post at all.

It's such a useless fight for Burke though. Chances are that none of those posters ever even appear in court. Rumors like these come with the fame. These types of rumors existed before the internet and will continue to exist.
If an anonymous poster on an online sports forum can cause problems in your family, then there are some serious trust issues in your family.

One of the legal tests for defamation is that you have to prove that the allegation harmed your reputation.
So whether the rumour, while even false, is defamatory depends upon not just that it was false, but that it harmed someone's reputation.
Example: Rumour-- Puckluck2* slept with Hazel Mae. Here Puckluck2 is not defamed, but Hazel Mae is.
The More You Know (tm).
*Puckluck2 picked as a random example

I suspect Burke is back in the NHL soon... Which team do you think snaps him up?
MIN if they miss the playoffs?
WPG looking to make a change?
COL perhaps?

I would be interested in getting involved in the defence of this. If you get sued or third partied, PM me.
Even if it is to provide a referral to a reputable BC firm.

If only Pronger had thought of this, there wouldn't be a single Oiler fan left on the internet.

No wonder Burke became a hockey GM. He must have been a pretty crappy lawyer if he thinks he has a chance of winning this case.

That Burke post was his last post on this forum I believe. I did a search and that was the most recent one that came up for me.

While this is obviously a serious issue, I think it's hilarious that "POONERMAN" and "SIR PSYCHO SEXY" now exist as legal entities in the history of Canada.

Ok, I'll check out the post... Did this whole story originate with him? ... Did it take off somewhere afterward?

How would your wife feel if she heard a rumour at work you were having an affair?
I doubt she would come home and only have a 1 minute discussion with you. Even after you told her no, it would still be in the back of her mind for a couple of days.
I doubt Burke durring the season spends a lot of time with his family because of the job and travel. Then you add to the fact that sports players have the reputation of cheating on their wives on the road. Lots of ways for his wifes mind to go rampant.

But a rumor from a real person is much more credible than a rumour on the internet. Do you think Fortzes Dad is worried about all the guys on CP that Fortzes mom has been rumoured to have slept with.
