Would they really though? Did they actually contribute to the defamation? (Adding new content) Or just referred to defamation claims made by others? If it's the latter, I would figure not much would be done against them, if any. It probably wouldn't be worth it to pursue settlement from these guys.

It's mentioned as one of the sites where one of the defendants posted the slander. CP isn't mentioned as a defendant. IMO, 6 minutes from posting to deletion is pretty darn diligent for a website.

The deleted post could show up in the e-mail.

It does make a difference. With the internet, anyone can create a blog and write whatever they want. If some less than brilliant person were to stumble upon this blog and take it for fact and then proceed to post it on a forum, who would you blame?

Good for Burkie, I could see how these sort of rumors could cause irreparable harm to one's family. Just think what sort of crap his family probably went through based off false rumors. No offense to anyone who was named in this suit in particular, but it's about time people are taken to task for spewing crap on the internet. This way people might think twice about spreading rumors and accusations like these next time around.
