Lots of inclusion of Hanifin in TO ideas but he just doesn't want out of Calgary, he actively wants to play in the US if not Florida doesn't he? Am I wrong about that?

I heard he wants to go back to the US, but I’ve never heard him requesting FLA.

I'm not sure if what Lucic said is weather related but nice neighbourhood and golf clubs are covered in snow for a good chunk of the season and when it's enjoyable they are in the off season usually going back home or maybe travelling so they miss out on that part.
Personally the nut jobs and gun laws would scare the crap out of me to be in the US but I wouldn't mind the down south or west coast weather lol.

Depends on his reasons for wanting to go back. If it’s to be closer to family, Toronto could work. He would probably love to play with Matthews and Gio again.

I don't want to come across as confrontational or challenge your pov but I think the narrative (inconsistent) is similar to:
-Kylington makes too many blunders
-Tkachuk doesn't show up in the playoffs
-Bennett has poor hockey IQ
These things were matters of fact for people. Adamant.
I don't think at all true (and didn't at the time). They just needed patience and confidence from coaches.

Me too honestly thought the two main pieces outside of the prospect would be Americans. Still though Carlo is locked up to a good deal and is a true and solid stay-at-home D with a right shot to boot, would make losing Zad a little easier to stomach if that happened. Frederic looks like a center that is ready to pop and I think could slot in well with the young core that is starting to outline itself here. lysell would be a huge bonus.

Everything I have heard leads me to believe the Leafs are not interested in Hanifin, they are very interested in Tanev or Zadorov.

I know you mentioned patience yesterday and that is something I don’t have lol! Are you getting the feeling they’re grinding away at something still?

As great as Tanev has been for us, sell him over Zadorov.

That certainly exists in Calgary. Most of those people don't take public transit, don't have their kids in public schools, live near their golf course, have a nice shopping area nearby.
|
Their counterparts in the U.S. have better sports programs and other amenities at their kids’ schools, proximity to colleges that have far better facilities, the golf courses are open 12 months a year, they have access to cheap labour for lawn maintenance/cleaning/nannies, enjoy better and more varied shopping, and have far more direct flights to family or holiday locations. Not to mention access to the world’s best health care 24/7 with no wait times. And they pay lower taxes.

I wish there was something that could be built for Nylander that centred around Kadri going the other way but I know that’s unrealistic lol.

I honestly don't know. If I had to guess I think they are still. Like I said, lots of work to do to figure it all out.

I absolutely agree, I want to keep Zadorov. The flip side is I think Zadorov has more value than Tanev from a return perspective.

I would too. Not so sure Boston would. While I think Carlo, Frederic, and Lysell are good targets for a trade, I doubt the Bruins would want to move all three. I expect they’d want DeBrusk included in a deal to clear cap.

Hopefully we'll see some new renders for the new arena that will get some people excited again. I'm guessing they want to move on that ASAP. Likely pushed through the DP process once funding is confirmed by the Province.

Interesting. Neither of those guys are returning Nylander. I wonder what Leafs would be involved
