Yeah he's a poor speaker and his departure could have been handled better but he said just about exactly what you suggested.
Can we get over this now?
|
That's because he got pressed by Tim to make it up to Calgary. There is nothing to make up you feel how you feel, he felt it was best not to go back to Calgary. I don't think he started feeling the need to be close to his family on July 12th and had to call Tre to tell him, he knew all along he was leaving.
I am not upset with the fact he left, his reasons for leaving are fine. The only thing that is bothersome is the way he left by lying, and the way he has handled himself afterwards.
I am over him leaving.

Speaking of Kipper's legacy, that's a great example of what Johnny gave up! Kipper has come back at least once (maybe twice?) in the last decade to bask in the glow of his adoration. How ever will Johnny enjoy his eventual retirement without an experience or two like that every decade?

With the money he will make on this contract I'm sure he will find a way to enjoy his eventual retirement

That's the complete directory of all employees, is it? And he hasn't got any outside help on retainer? Never uses an accountant, a legal secretary, or anybody other than the agents themselves?
Pretty odd to look at a list of agents with the firm and assume that nobody else is involved in the work at all.

Nothing about the whole situation indicates Gross's shop is at the forefront of professionalism and proactive planning.
And I'm not sure what people think PR advisors would actually do in these situations. "Here are some notes on what you should say. Now go out there like a deer in the headlights who will immediately forget everything I just said. Have fun!"

I'm sure he will. I am also sure when his career is over and he was just another good hockey player that passed through the NHL and won nothing instead of a franchise legend with multiple records to his name he will regret that immensely. Or maybe we have been misguided in his competitiveness and he doesn't actually care about such things in which case that isn't a player you are going to win with anyhow.

I'm sure Jaromir Jagr, Chris Pronger, Jeremy Roenick, Ron Francis, Mark Recchi, Adam Oates, Doug Gilmour, Brett Hull, Larry Murphy, Dave Andreychuk, Pierre Turgeon, Mike Gartner, Phil Housley, Damphousse, and many many others sleep just fine at night in their high thread count custom bed sheets with a bunch of different team logos on them.

Tkachuk obviously is a skilled player, smart player, like Laine, and then Elias Lindholm, a defensive, smart, two-way player that you really rely on in hard games, I think that's kind of what Boone is as well

Johnny, I’m one of the people who still likes you and has no ill will towards you. But Boone Jenner is definitely no Elias Lindholm

i think what most people (including me) are upset about is, if he knew wasn't going to sign, do what chuck did give us a chance to get something in return.

I didn’t. I looked at his staff. A PR person would be included, even if assistants weren’t.
He himself says he won’t do a big shop.

The Monkees are an American band so he gets to be closer to home.

Sounds like he had a ton of friends on the team that he still wants to see succeed. What a tool, good riddance.

I have a feeling Johnny is going to play like Backlund after having his kid.

I get that all these guys are sick of getting asked about this though. Gaudreau probably could have been more eloquent with his answer, but these questions that Gaudreau, Huberdeau, Weegar, and Kadri get asked all the time have run their course and are pretty cringey at this point.

Yikes. Not Johnny’s finest moment. Just the city, nothing on the organization?
