Nope. I understand Tawny Newsome has a lot of say in this show and I think the idea is great.

This show has 3 holdover characters from Discovery reprising their roles. At least. Also 3 of the worst and most baffling members of starfleet:

Tilly

Admiral Vance

Loudmouth/ borderline insubordinate engineer lady


This is going to be a steaming pile of ####.

Begrudgingly... I will also mention that it has the Doctor. But I am going to assume that NuTrek will bring back all of the worst elements of the Doctor with no redemption. So he's probably going to be creeping on one of the students.

Oh. I did not know that. I only vaguely know who Tilly is and I am completely unfamiliar with the other 2.

And I say this, and I say it with love.

But at the end of DS9 O'Brien leaves to go teach at Starfleet Academy.

However, if its got Disco characters in it I assume this is a prequel? What is with these people and their outrageously unhealthy fascination with prequels??

Show us Starfleet Academy CURRENTLY not canonically 300 years ago or whatever.

Move FORWARD. Isn't that Starfleet's entire ethos? To boldly go where no one has gone before?

"But lets make a 'been there, done that' prequel and tie our creative hands with canon, that way we can be sure to piss everyone off!"

I want Chief O'Brien, old and grey, teaching kids how to fix stuff. He should be the Chancellor of Starfleet Academy but still only hold the rank of Chief.

Furthermore, Stellar Cartography or whatever should be taught by Professor Ensign Kim. Thats right. Still an Ensign!

Rear Admiral Riker can be an instructor on Battle Tactics and Trombone!

There can be a whole wide variety of people in Starfleet! Most of them serious, hard working and benevolent, but...some of them...

I thought Disco went far into the future where the Federation had fallen apart and they were trying to rebuild it or something. Pretty sure that's where i stopped watching. I do love Oded Fehr but i he couldn't make me watch Disco, he probably can't make me watch this.

I forced myself to suffer through at least a couple episodes of the first three seasons of Disco. You may be unaware, but they went forward in time and are now something like 300 years ahead of Nemesis timeline star trek.

Admiral Vance is the leader of starfleet in the future. This will be set in the future. The Discovery future.

Fan service academy does sound like more fun, but they probably would have ruined those characters by bringing them back again, just like Picard.

Honestly, it's not ####ing rocket science but they've treated it as such since the end of voyager.

All they need to do is set a show in the year 2380 (year after nemesis) with a totally new crew unrelated to all previous, and a totally new ship unrelated to all previous. Then just make them do #### in universe where the familiar characters exist as background noise or legends, with maybe a seasonal 1 episode special cameo from someone like Janeway or whatever.

That would be an A+ series.

Instead, we're getting whatever the #### this and section 31 are supposed to be.

I want them taken to the Bajoran firecaves and thrown into the pit that Kai Wynn wound up in. That sounded extremely painful and I'm sure there were fun timey-wimey effects because of the prophets.

We would even go so far as to shoot a final episode in whatever year you want where we blow the ship up, all hands lost, so none of it ever happened.

We're sorry. We're so, so sorry!"

I'd consider that.

And that Section 31 trailer? My God that looks awful.

I'd consider that.

I don't even want a big boom. They deserve to be taken out back like poor Enterprise was, and wrote off as a holodeck simulation.

Or it's revealed that Picard was strapped into a clockwork orange like device and forced by Q to watch this potential future unfold while thrashing madly against his chair.

Something like that...

Dreaming about the series i've proposed... The first officer could even be the first romulan in starfleet! Romulans could be a season 1 foil as they are folded slowly into the federation. You could explore breen relations in the wake of the dominion war... you could do tholians? Hell there's so much there. You could even do a "finding a new path to the gamma quadrant" story. A cardassian engineer or two.

Actually, what I described is pretty much just a live action Lower decks. Just make a ####ing live action lower decks, GOD DAMMIT!

Yes! This! You could rotate characters in and out, keep it fresh with a good core but show that everyone has duties and things to do and helps solve the problems.

Keep it about science and exploration and problem solving.

This isnt rocket science guys! What do you think got us into this show in the first place???

Honestly...I like your idea of starting the Academy show right after Nemesis, and then potentially blending the Academy show with a live action lower decks.

You see the Cadets in the Academy and as they graduate you show them in their new posts on another show where they're lower deckers.

My invoice is in the mail Paramount!!!

Honestly, it's like the writers/ producers helming star trek take the WORST lessons possible out of things. Almost comedy level, frankly.
