I really wish the Liberals had chosen Garneau as their leader instead of Trudeau.

I'm talking about you specifically. Your post was ridiculous fearmongering garbage. If your best defense is "other people who think you like also acted like this before" perhaps it's time to rethink your position.
|
It's only "ridiculous fearmongering garbage" because you disagree. All I can do is once again point out that you do not hold a moral high ground. And I am talking about you specifically. Your rebuttal was vapid, self-serving and a waste of the ones and zeros required to store it in Calgarypuck's database.

Oooh vapid. Nice word. This coming from the guy who called Trudeau a pretty boy, like a high school girl trying to insult people based on looks. You offered nothing of substance except a catty remark about him being pretty, suggesting what, he's dumb? I dont even know. Oh and lets not forget the assertion he has handlers pulling his strings, so god only knows what the true masters want! Better be real scared of this guy and his shadow government.
Trash post and then you have the nerve to say that what I posted was vapid. Yikes.

Do you vote for the party with the moral high ground?
I don't get it.

No, I don't. Mostly because I don't pretend that my side (or any side, for that matter) is made up of perfect, honest little civil servants with only my best interest in mind. But I will laugh at people who behave as if their side is.
Alternatively, Resurrection is getting so pouty because Harper kicked his dog once or something.

I surmise that in the next federal election the majority of voters will follow this mantra:
Better the devil you know than the one you don't.
Harper makes people uneasy sometimes but an inexperienced Trudeau frightens them.

So then why do you keep bringing up the moral high ground?
You're just slinging mud about who else is down in the gutter with you.
The constant references to Trudeau's attractiveness is weird in it's own right, but the puppeteer stuff is straight up conspiracy babble.

How long did it take to ask all of Canada for its opinions about Harper and Trudeau?
I kid, but I actually don't know if I see much evidence that voters are "scared" of Trudeau. I do think he has (after holding a significant advantage for most of the year) opened the door to Harper a little by showing himself to be a bit weak on foreign policy.
This will be an interesting election cycle, but we should keep in mind that the battleground will not be suburban Calgary, but suburban Toronto and rural Ontario, and areas like that. It's pretty hard in Calgary to get a sense of the mood on the street where it really matters.

That depends on the circles you travel in, I suspect.
Harper makes plenty of people uneasy all the time, and he has already frightened them with his experience.
The whole science denial/silencing thing should be enough to scare everyone.

Here's a question: I think we all know a CPC minority win is the equivalent of a loss for them as the other parties can (and will) block everything they try. So is Harper done at that point? Or are the next wave of guys simply too weak to replace Harper?

No time at all... that's why I said surmise.

Frightened may have been a poor choice of words on my part. Perhaps "uncomfortable" would have been better. When Trudeau tends to shoot from the hip he often ends up with his foot in his mouth.

The other parties could block, but would they be wise to try? Last time they went down that road, Canadians weren't terribly impressed and gave Harper a majority. If the opposition parties were to try and gang up again, they risk repeating history.
And that may answer the first question. Would Harper be done? Quite possibly. But probably not immediately. As in, I don't think he would resign as leader on election night if reduced to a minority, but internal party discussions would probably start to focus on succession plans. But if the opposition parties were to try and force policy, I think the Conservatives would likely stick with the established leader knowing that another election would be coming quick.
