He's an actor, a good one. It's like you're basing casting on a persons actual personality.
Magneto in First Class is nothing like the android David in Prometheus, who is nothing like Carl Jung in A Dangerous Method, who is nothing like sex crazed Brandon Sullivan in Shame who is nothing like Lt. Archie Hicox in Inglourious Basterds.

I am familiar with his movies and his acting and I disagree. I am sorry you feel like I am insulting your favorite actor because I think he's a pretty amazing actor myself. I just don't believe he's right for the part. I am not picking actors based on their real life personalities. I am picking them based on other characters I've seen them play. Also, depending on the time period of the film (it's supposedly between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope) he could be too old.
This pretty much sums up my view of this announcement.

They’re taking the gigantic, rich world of Star Wars and making it smaller by clinging on to old characters as if audiences would stay away unless there were familiar faces. Holding on to Yoda, Han Solo, and Boba Fett could weaken the Star Wars legacy as the mystery and allure of the characters is washed away.

Rebel Dawn and Hutt Gambit need to be switched to be in order. But yeah, those books were great. Much better than the lame Del Ray Solo books like Star's End.

Chris Pine over Michael Fassbender?
The f*** is this?
You can't be serious. Either way, I don't like the idea of them making a movie that focuses on Han's origins as it just wouldn't feel right at all. Harrison is and will always be Han Solo. Having a 30 yr old actor come play an origin of a character who was 30ish at the time of A New Hope is just silly.

I haven't seen anything that indicates that Mace Windu survived
And having him survive Order 66 would not only be incredibly ######ed but totally ruin the idea that most of the Jedi including powerful ones were exterminated, it would also serve to make Palpatine a very ineffectual character in the original trilogy since he would have failed to kill any of the Jedi that he fought.
Having Mace Windu survive would literally rip the guts out of any sense of menace in the Star Wars universe.
Obiwan to Luke
Vader helped the Emperor hunt down and kill the Jedi, except the Emperor was really bad at it and couldn't kill one jedi personally. Sure he kicked their a$$es, but the most powerful Sith Lord out there couldn't do what Darth Maul and even Vader had done.
If they write Mace Windu back to life that would probably end me being interested in Star Wars

Whislt I don't agree with it, prepare to get off the boat cause I am willing to bet we see Windu alive and in modern "SWU" withing ten years.

I said a guy like Chris Pine... key word LIKE. And yes, both of those actors would probably be too old for the part. I think it should be pretty clear that I feel Harrison Ford is the only person who can play Han Solo. What if they decided to Tron: Legacy this thing and digitally de-age Harrison Ford?
I still think this is a stupid idea for a movie. Stop ruining characters from the original trilogy.

Not to mention that Ford would only be capable of playing cocky characters, and would be pigeon holed as such through is actor career.
Perhaps I am in the minority, but the Star Trek reboot was an excellent example of great recasting, in my opinion. Kirk, and especially Spock were great, and I would take the modern Uhura any frickin' day.

In nuTrek John Cho was actually older than George Takei when they both started playing Sulu.

To be fair, old Uhura didnt do much, she was just a 'red shirt' that didnt get killed.

I tried to find a picture of flaming strawberry jam but failed.
I'd love to see a scene that takes place between ROTS and ANH where Yoda walks by a splatter on the sidewalk and grimaces and shakes his head.

She was basically just the ship's secretary, in charge of answering the phone, delivering messages, properly labeling TPS reports and the occasional semi-erotic fan-dance.
They had a black woman on TV in the 60s, sure, but they werent exactly stomping down any feminine stereotypes with her.

Yeah, Roddenberry might have been progressive on race, but he was still a sexist dirty old man.

With my luck they will cast Ryan Reynolds as Solo, then as Oberyn Martel, the new Batman, and as Liono in the Thundercats movie.
Effectively trolling my life and pushing me into insanity.
