It was the Lizard men
Were there any strange bellowing sounds on the video playback.

Sooo... I guess the story now is... Husband falls asleep, wife decided she needs to get a drink on around midnight, leaves the hubby in the room, presumably meets some guy, guy follows/escorts her to her room, guy makes move, she slaps him or something, guy goes berserk and caves her head in. Is that how we are reading this now?

Possibly, all we have now that we didn't have 2 days ago is that someone, apparently wearing clothes that make him look like a tourist (I assume the fanny pack was the giveaway), is seen on video beating her in the elevator. What the circumstances and motive were is still pretty much a mystery.

Oh, still a ton of questions for sure. It's odd that she went off in the middle of the night, and the savageness of the beating is very... I can't quite find the right adjective... strange/personal/not something one would typically associate with attempted robbery or sexual assault... you know what I am saying? The savagery is why I initially leaned toward "domestic"...

I'm assuming the item that is making them believe it was a tourist is the resort wristband.

I dunno, I've definitely seen some meatheads in bars go off on girls who shot them down and if they were alone in a hallway I could see them being pretty savage. If I had to guess I'd lean more towards an unrequited advance, maybe a slap or drink thrown in the face, and then a blind rage taking hold. Or lizard men.
Apologies for yesterday btw, I think I took some of what you wrote too literally which doesn't really make sense given the venue.

No problem. I agree with you the vast majority of the time, and wanted to make sure we didn't get into a nasty discussion.
Really? To the point of foot-stomping a woman's face? Maybe I am naive/sheltered.

I'm thinking Jersey Shore types who clearly have insecurity issues as well as enough roids in them to fly into a rage. Then again, we often hear about the most violent crimes being committed by the quiet guy who just lost it one day.

That's true - forgot about the roids/booze cocktail possibility.

As this is likely addressed to my post, I'll respond. Nowhere am I offended on behalf of someone. I was more interested to see who would retract / update their insinuation / accusations / conjecture in light of some real facts... the folks adamant that their criminal psychology knowledge had readily identified the husband as the perpetrator.
Call me crazy, but I don't jump to ridiculous conclusions (or, at the very least, I don't feel obligated to post them on an internet forum.) I'm not a fan of eating crow and the best way to avoid it is to not jump to conclusions. The internet just makes it easier to slip away when proven wrong.
And no one would get offended on your behalf, fotze. You do a heck of a job all on your own.

Who was adamant that the husband was the perpetrator?
I saw people saying that in cases like this it is very likely that it was the husband but having followed this thread I didn't see anyone say that it was him for sure or really say anything other than in most cases like this that it is the husband.
The fact that the husband is still the most likely person in cases like this, even though it appears he had nothing to do with it here, hasn't changed.
Why should anyone take what they said?
Unless I missed something there was nothing in particular about this husband that was pointed out and just generalities about this type of case.

I'd bet dollars to donuts that the husband is the perp....that or perhaps Mexicans.
Actually, I think it was it some guy she was having an affair with. She told him that she was taking a Mexican vacation to try and repair her marriage, the guy got pissed and booked a trip to the same resort to try and win her back but was turned away...he then proceeded to attack her. Hey, it could happen. And yes, I have submitted this plot line to CSI Miami.

The whole point of an internet forum is to jump to ridiculous conclusions, otherwise what the hell is the point of it being here?
If you take out the ridiculous conclusions all that any one would post here would be about a page of 'how dreadfull, I hope she gets well soon', the reason we are at 22 pages is because we are all gossiping about it, yourself included.

The head of police said yesterday that the information they have is that they have a suspect,” said Rice.

It’s not clear if the suspect’s identity has been confirmed and if he has been located by state police.

a handful of people have "fallen" off Mexican hotel balconies in the past couple years. I don't think people should think just because you're in a resort, that means youre safe.

I think he is referring to this incident.
http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/Canada/201...o-fall-100912/
I stayed at the Riu Caribe during the previous December/early January and had an awesome time.
Its unfortunate what happened to her, but it sounds like it could of happened anywhere.
The bottom of the article does however site these two prior incidents.

This is not the first time a Canadian has died after falling off a hotel balcony in Mexico.
Josh Iwasiuk of Selkirk, Man. died in January 2008 after Mexican police said he fell from a balcony 10 stories high. The family however, questioned the autopsy results at the time.

In November 2007, Chris Morin, 30, of Okotoks, Alta., fell from a fourth-floor balcony in Cancun and died. Authorities said he had illicit drugs in his system but a friend suspected his death was connected to a dispute at a bar.
