Finished the final season of Jack Ryan. I can't recommend it, it was really quite bad. Good production values I guess, but the writing was predictable and the performances totally generic. For a thriller, it was just kind of boring.

It was like a totally different show from the previous seasons.

Yup, I agree... I watched the first 3 seasons of Jack Ryan and found it really entertaining if a bit unrealistic at times, but I couldn't even get through season 4.

Such great stories and characters and an absolutely perfect ending. Like probably top 10 in my all time favorite shows.
About 5 episodes into Primeval and it's OK. Can't compare it much to the original as it's not even close but it's still better than a lot of the shows that come out these days.
The good, Timothy Olyphant is still awesome and bad ass and steps right back into his Character as an older version of Raylan Givens. He's still one of my favorite actors. Boyd Holbrook definitely has some charisma and does a great job as the main villain. The actors playing Sweety and Sandy are pretty decent too. Also some decent actors in some of the smaller parts.
The bad, TO getting them to cast his daughter as his show daughter was not a good idea. Maybe the part was too spot on but she wasn't great at playing a teenage girl. Also, not crazy about the lawyer lady either and she doesn't have any chemistry with Marshall Givens at all. Story is a bit weak too but I'm hoping things will ramp up in the second half of the season.
Also...nice to see Deacon from King of Queens getting some work. I wondered what happened to that guy

Justified City Primeval was ok.
The parts that felt like Justified were really good. The intense dialogue especially.
There was a sub plot with the lawyer and her ex husband, and it felt like I was watching some other show.
Why was Raylan so into this overweight middle aged lady? Why was her ex husband even in the show? It didn’t go anywhere. They used a good third of an episode on it. It was nuts IMO.
And the ending (no spoilers) felt like tacked on fan service becuase the main plot left you wanting.
I want to watch another season where its about Raylan pursuing criminals. You know, like Justified.

If you're a gearhead and have any means of getting access to it (I have it on a Plex Share I use), Wheeler Dealers is a pretty fun and informative show about buying those older enthusiast cars, fixing them up, and selling them on for a profit. The episodes through Series 13 with mechanic Edd China have been my favourite so far.

Wheeler Dealers is great, I've seen most of them now. But I'm also having a lot of fun with Roadkill Garage lately.

Okay, I am not an 'Anime' person, so I have no concept whatsoever of the Source Material, but 'One Piece' on Netflix is great.

That's what I was saying. It was pretty much a "what would happen if the supporting personnel just listed to the main guy the whole time and did everything they were supposed to do."
To me, that was kind of refreshing, but I guess it did ultimately prove the point that it's not much of a show if everyone does what they're told. For years, I've said "imagine if everyone just listed to Jack Bauer and did what they were asked/told to do?" I suppose S4 of Jack Ryan answered that question, lol.

Is Mr. Inbetween streaming anywhere? It keeps coming up on my YouTube, and at first I thought it was just one of those YouTube sketches of "how to handle things properly" or whatever. Took me awhile to realize it was an actual show lol.
I wouldn't mind giving it a go.

As someone who's been a fan since 2007ish, it was awesome. They changed a bunch of stuff to make it fit into an 8 episode season but I think they executed it really good. It feels very One Piece-y.
The casting was super important to nail properly too, the natural camaraderie they have with each other actually makes them feel like the Straw Hats. Even when they do group interviews and media appearances they channel that energy.
Obviously I don't expect everyone who watches the live action to delve into the anime but my thought was, if this is good enough to make even a subset of first time viewers get curious enough to give the anime a look... oh boy.

Just finished Mr. Inbetween. So good. Liked it better than Barry which had a similar premise. Mr. Inbetween stays gritty and realistic while Barry turns into more of a surreal satire.
Also just got Season 4 of the Great Canadian Baking Show. Was season 3 really bad or something? We never got it here. The new host Alan Shane Lewis is pretty good although will never live up to Dan Levy who is probably the GOAT of bake off hosts.

I appreciated how this is one of the few shows that prioritized 'less can sometimes be more' type of thinking.

Dan Levy was overrated on the bakeoff. Love the guy, but all he did was his usual schtick.
Noel Fielding is probably the best and his partnership on the show with Matt Lucas is GOAT. closely followed by Mel & Sue.
Levy is somewhere far below them.

I’ve got some recovery time on my hands, so I binged The Bear S1 & S2. What an amazing ride that show is. Absolutely hooked and can’t wait for season 3. The characters are so good.

Do we have a thread on SAG-AFTRA strike talk/issues, and the future of tv/streaming/entertainment going forward? If not, do we need one?
I don't really have much to contribute to it but am interested in following this topic.

Yeah, curious how long before we’re back to really crappy reality tv. I guess I could take the opportunity to finally delve into The Sopranos.

It's fortunate that so much content has been produced over the past 5 years. I ran out of shows, but started hunting and found some more good ones.
I mostly miss things like Colbert and SNL.

Evidently season 4 of The Boys is pretty well ready to go, but the creator has refused to release it until the strike is resolved.
