The first season of The Bear was so frantic and stress inducing.
The first few episodes of Season 2 were as if they from a totally different show - heavily focused gastronomy and characters - I bet they lost a bunch of the people who were into season 1. I’m going to put very general thoughts in spoilers but for anyone who might have gave up on season 2 after the first few episodes, keep on going. It is so worth it.
Spoiler!
“Fishes” absolutely changed the game. And then all of the character work done in the first few episodes of season two started to payoff as the stakes really started to matter. Every episode after Fishes was unbelievable and there were some scenes that were just crushingly heartbreaking.
The scene with the mom at the end was just unbearable (no pun intended) in the saddest way possible.
I blew through the two seasons over the weekend. I think the show is not for me. It's well done, I get why it's popular, but I don't think I want to make space for a show that is so built around tension.
Mare of Easttown (Crave/HBO) is a couple years old now, and is excellent. It's a sombre and harrowing whodunnit with a ton of family/small town dynamic piled on top - it's incredibly captivating.
Stars Kate Winslet, Evan Peters, Guy Pierce, and a deep supporting cast. Only seven episodes
I'll say! Jean Smart and Julianne Nicholson for starters!

It sounds like you did though?

Fishes was an incredible hour of TV. Maybe one of the best episodes of anything in TV history. Jamie Lee Curtis is walking away with a guest star Emmy next year.
I haven't had that much panic and anxiety watching something since Uncut Gems.

I happened to have seen a trailer for Loudermilk, a six-year-old show that was formerly on some obscure American cable channel called "Audience", and the first episode is available for free on Youtube:
Spoiler!
It was only produced for three seasons of 10 episodes apiece, and stars Ron Livingston of Office Space and Band of Brothers fame as the titular character. Apparently the rest of the series is on Amazon Prime (I came across it by other means). It's an amusing show, a dark comedy with a little bit of drama to it, but nothing too serious.
I like Ron Livingston as an actor, so it was a pretty easy sell for me.
It's set in Seattle, but shot in Vancouver. The other stars of the show—Will Sasso, Anja Savcic, Laura Mennell—are Canadian, and most of the rest of the recurring characters are played by Canadians (pretty much all of them save Brian Regan as 'Mugsy', Mat Fraser as 'Roger' and Jackie Flynn as 'Tony'). Watching it, I was surprised it never had a first run on Canadian TV.
That one with Jeff Daniels was good too. Rust something. Had a kind of similar vibe. It’s ongoing though so no resolution like Mare of Eastown had.
I'l give that one a go tonight. Incidentally, Daniels has had a hell of a career starting about 50. I remember when he was a relative noob in Speed, Arachnophobia, etc., and loveable moron in Dumb and Dumber.
Solar Opposites S4 is pretty good so far. I will say...their method of ditching Roiland and just changing Korvo's voice was a smooth piece of work.
Intro of E1. Never mentioned again. And off we go!
I think that was brilliant. For Rick and Morty that might be a bit more jarring, but we'll see how they handle it.
And thus far I'd say those rumours that Roiland had little to nothing to do with the writing or the content might have some validity to them because it seems like a seamless season of Solar Opposites.
Again, I guess we'll see what R&M holds.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
Finally got around to watching Better Call Saul. I had been putting it off since while I enjoyed Breaking Bad, I maybe like it less than some people. And I just don't like the prequel concept in general.
Well BSS was incredible. Some of the best written characters ever put to television IMO and Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn were incredible in their roles. Sad to see it come to an end.

Yes, BCS might be the best show ever. I told my parents and sister to watch it and they both said they thought it was boring. I haven't bothered recommending any shows since.
“The Telemarketers” on HBO/Crave has been wildly entertaining. It’s a exposé about a seedy firm that used some pretty underhanded techniques to solicit donations on behalf of various emergency responder funds.

Finished up "Search Party" on Crave. It was a very fun five seasons. The show is quite the.....journey. Every season was really an unexpected surprise. They really did a great job with lots of the guest appearances.

So just did a complete rewatch of Justified in preparation for watching the spinoff City Primeval. I hadn't watched the original Justified since it first came out so much of it felt like watching it for the first time. That show is a bloody masterpiece! Such great stories and characters and an absolutely perfect ending. Like probably top 10 in my all time favorite shows.
About 5 episodes into Primeval and it's OK. Can't compare it much to the original as it's not even close but it's still better than a lot of the shows that come out these days.
The good, Timothy Olyphant is still awesome and bad ass and steps right back into his Character as an older version of Raylan Givens. He's still one of my favorite actors. Boyd Holbrook definitely has some charisma and does a great job as the main villain. The actors playing Sweety and Sandy are pretty decent too. Also some decent actors in some of the smaller parts.
The bad, TO getting them to cast his daughter as his show daughter was not a good idea. Maybe the part was too spot on but she wasn't great at playing a teenage girl. Also, not crazy about the lawyer lady either and she doesn't have any chemistry with Marshall Givens at all. Story is a bit weak too but I'm hoping things will ramp up in the second half of the season.
Also...nice to see Deacon from King of Queens getting some work. I wondered what happened to that guy

I would agree with....pretty much all of this.
