Yup, won 8 straight at home and their last 4, but they really suck. Why try, we should just pack it in now right? If that is your outlook perhaps the team North of Calgary would be better suited to you.

Man, the Flames haven't played hockey over .500 this year. They just won more than two games in a row in the past week.
All I'm saying is Hudler isn't a core piece going forward considering the cap implications his next contract will have.
If the Flames find themselves benefiting from the weak pacific division and find themselves flirting with a playoff spot that is great and is clearly the goal, but that's no reason to let an asset walk away for nothing July 1.

That's crazy talk. We should be going for the cup every year despite our circumstances. I wonder if we could pry Staal out of Carolina if we dangled our 1st?

I've thought about that. He's injured and has had trouble staying healthy. Dallas has lots of offence without him.
Benn
Seguin
Spezza
Nuke
Sharp
Janmark
Eakin
Would be hard to push them out of the top 6.
Plus they have Guranov (their 1st pick last year), Shore (tearing up the AHL in his first full year), Dickenson (another former 1st rounder doing well).
I think if a right deal came across they would move him. Not sure what the Flames can offer maybe Russell and Wotherspoon?

Russell and Wtherspoon seems like a lot for a guy who has done minimal since turning pro. Maybe Russell straight up or Wotherspoon straight up but not both

Drafted in 2011, these are exactly the kinds of players that Calgary should be taking a hard look at. A possible late bloomer in terms of reaching his potential, who hasn't been able to stick in the NHL for reasons out of his control, in this case a severely broken finger setting him back a year and extreme depth at RW in Dallas.
The Stars have Devin Shore, so they may have interest in Drew Shore.
They can also use an NHL ready LW, but it would have to be a big ticket player.
Possible landing spot for Hudler? (Taking Travis Moen back is enough to make the money work)
Does Dallas see itself as a contender?

One thing is that teams tend to get attached to players they've drafted and invested in. Much more likely that teams will give up picks instead of prospects for that reason.

If you are implying they would like to unite Devin and Drew for family reasons, they aren't related AFAIK.

Well the flipside is that Ritchie was a Nieuwendyk draft pick. Not sure how much attachment Nill has on him.

If you're going to tell me that Pauly isn't their cousin next, I don't know if I want to play this game anymore.

Maybe we can get Snookie and The Situation under contract and trade the cast of Jersey Shore to the Stars? Might as well make it a Shore family reunion in Dallas!

I had the same thought last week. He might be a good longterm fit at our #2RW position. Unless of course we look into FA this offseason for a bigger upgrade (Okposo).
I love Ritchie's size and upside. Big 20-20 potential imo.

The problem is that Dallas is not really hurting prospect wise @ defense as well. Johns and Honka are doing well in the AHL. The interest in Wotherspoon would be pretty minimal IMO.
