The guys a gutless coward, it was made even worse with the hockey media portraying him as some honorable defender of the code.
Even after Tkachuk stood up and fought him. Kassian skated by the bench and you could see Rinaldo challenging him and saying he's next, and all that gutless piece of dirty headshotting trash could do is examine his shoelaces. He's just another Stortini, except he's a back stab checking headshotting goof, and the league would be better off without him in it.

Why wasn’t Neal waived and put on the taxi squad between games to save cap space like the Flames did with Ryan?

Because Holland knows the Oilers won't be buying at the deadline.

Holland couldn't risk him being claimed. Can't be giving away 20 goal scorers for nothing.

I’m sure they have a couple more second round picks from the future to throw away.

Probably worried about losing the 2 goal scorer from sens game for nothing on waivers. Holland hoping to trade Neal for a first and two seconds.

Because you can’t put everyone on the taxi squad. There’s only so much room in the taxi. And it’s not like you get his whole cap hit in relief. It’s just over 1 mil. Plus he was on IR when he had covid.

Neal would throw a fit and feel disrespected to be treated like waiver fodder. An unhappy and unmotivated Neal would be even more of a #### disturber and nightmare in that dressing room.

Over at TSN they have a video entitled "McDavid is the most highly evolved player in hockey history".
McDavid is no good.
Oilers are no good.
TSN.ca is no good.

What the hell does that even mean? It's not just a stupid headline; it is also a sure-fire indication that the writer does not have a clue about what evolution is and how it works.

He can skate really really fast and people still can’t believe how fast he can skate.
His best shot at a championship is on the oval.

And the crossovers!
Can you win on the oval by only skating on half of the ice?

Because the Oilers are already leveraging LTIR.
So waiving Neal wouldn't really do anything for them except have them using less LTIR space, and they can't accrue cap space because you can't when pulling into LTIR.

I have to think, without research, that most teams have a similar draft record when it comes to goalies. With the obvious exception that some of them have actually drafted their current number one. It really is throwing crap against the barn door to see what sticks.
Edit: Regardless, Edmonton is probably the no goodest at drafting goalies because Edmonton is no good.
