I’ve never seen a deal. And IMO it’s not worth the public rate. At least not until everything greens up and is in great shape. They also punched their greens super late last year and still look weird, but they roll true.
I only play there with vendors. I won’t pay to play.

For high end putters it was pretty bad for a while, especially at like K-Country and Banff Springs.
Like New Era said, keep the Scotty cover in plastic and put a generic cover on it. Will help with resale.

How often do you leave your clubs out to go eat or drink? I don’t think I have ever done that. To the car first.

My only time is usually when paying. I don't walk my clubs into the clubhouse to play (does anyone?). But after that they're usually in my cart or with me, except to go to the bathroom. Helps if you're with a foursome of friends.

That's a pretty long walk at K-Country and at most courses they don't let you take your cart to the parking lot.

I wouldn’t say most courses. Kananaskis is the only one I can think of in my regular plays. But come to think of it maybe kananaskis I left them out last time. But it’s almost always: drive to car, drop off clubs, return cart and eat:drink.

I'm thinking pre-round would be prime club stealing time.

It should have said most courses THAT don't let you take your cart to the lot.

Played 9 holes last night at Cottonwood. First time out this year, first time I've swung a club since last September. Hit about 10 balls on the range (no driver) and went straight to the par 5 #1, which I birdied.
I'm a 15 handicap. So of course I go out and shoot a 40. Like WTF, how do I go from the struggle bus to almost breaking 40 (took a 6 on 9 or I would have). Made 2 birdies, and even stroked a 7 iron on the 175yd par 3 to within 2 feet. It was ALL working.
I hate this game.

Learn to stay in your shot. Don't think score, think only about the shot you are about to strike. Stay in that moment and do nothing else. When you allow your mind to start thinking about other things you disrupt your concentration and ability to make a shot. I'm not saying you have to think about only the shot, some of the best rounds I've played have been when I've been distracted and not had golf on the brain, what you have to do is not allow yourself to get ahead of the shot you are about to hit and think about the putt before you even hit the green. Focus on the shot you can control, which is the one you are standing over, not the one dependent on the shot you are about to hit. When you get ahead of yourself, that's when you make mistakes. Play the game shot-by-shot, without any expectations, and you will surprise yourself with how well you can grind out a good score.
And don't think for a second that all players do not get ahead of themselves. You can watch the best players blow up on the course and know they tried to get a head of themselves. They do it in the majors all the time. For us hackers, it's just much easier. For example, I threw down a 74 and a 73 in back-to-back rounds. Came out on the follow up of the 73 and started out birdie. Guess what started creeping into my head? Score. Completely got my head out of the moment and started thinking about future state rather than focusing on the moment and the shot. Completely fell apart and shot 84. Lesson learned, I hope.

It's just really, really frustrating that I can go from low 80's to 110, on the same course, in the same week.
Agree on the scoring though, I always make a point of not looking at my score (I use an app so it's hard not to). If I happen to see it on 12 or 14, I immediately start doing math to see where I can end up, and typically start shanking balls into the bush.
Is it too much to ask to consistently be able crank drives 300 yards, throw darts with your irons and have a laser putter? lol

It is a crazy game like that isn't it?
I went out and played 18 on Saturday, the front 9 was nice and warm, little breeze, shot a nice 42. The back 9 was cold, miserable, windy as hell and promptly shot 53.
I used to put way too much pressure on myself as a junior, so no matter the scenario now I dont take it too seriously. And I think that is all part of it, not thinking too much, worrying etc. Plus, as a junior I couldn't have a couple beers throughout the round.
Bought myself a push cart this week and am really looking forward to walking again, its been like 15-20 years of cart riding. I'm joining the movement!

I'm still a high handicapper but my putting has helped bring it down for sure and yes I still do 3 putt but not so much with the SC. Good putter for me.

So the difference is not a lost stroke from 2 putting, it's even from gaining a stroke from fairway to green.
|
My putting also is statistically good (average 2.0) but for the same reason. I can't hit the green consistently so most of my putts are short because I'm chipping.
What's frustrating for me is the inconsistency in my drives and approaches. If I was consistently long or short, or left or right I think it would be easier to make adjustments. My driving stats for the past 20 rounds are 41% fairways hit but I miss left (slice) 30% and miss right (pull) 30%. Same with approaches, I miss left and right equally (20% GIR).

What works for me for hitting the greens when I'm struggling, regardless of pin location, remember middle of the green is your friend. If you're concerned about the left and right, club up and swing easy. You find more middle of your shot variance when you gear down.
Take back yardage, swing easy, and you'll improve the number of greens you hit.

Did any of Kenney's "stronger" restrictions announced today affect golf? I couldn't find any which is the good thing.

Nothing direct.
Outdoor groups of 5 allowed so I’m sure it’s fine.

The only thing is the 5 person's limit on outdoor gathering. But if golf can deemed to be maintaining 2 meter separation including in the driving range, then it shouldn't matter as we are not "gathering" outdoor. This is good news for golf but tee times will be hard to come by, probably worse than last year.

Sports, performance and recreation##– Effective at 11:59 pm on May 9
All outdoor sports and recreation are now prohibited except with members of your household or, if living alone, two close contacts. This is a decrease from the current limit of 10 people.
That reads to me like the restrictions apply to golf.
So you can golf with your spouse or two others in your bubble if you are alone.

It says individual sports like golf are allowed.
