Interesting... what's your handicap? A 10 handicap will have 3x 3-putt holes a round. My arccos tracks all my data. There are some interesting stats. Average driving distance is a great shrivelled...or how most mid handicaps miss 40%+ of greens short.

Golfed twice in two days......Friday afternoon at blue devil where the wind was blowing across almost every fairway and then yesterday morning at serenity, where it was also breezy.
By the 4th hole on Saturday morning at serenity, the 4some in front of us was a full hole behind the 4some in front of them. By the time we got to 9 they were two holes behind and not a Marshall in sight. We played thru on 10. By the time we got to 18 they were a hole behind. They were just slow in everything they did.
Golfed three rounds with the new clubs and with all the wind, I am still not sure what my distances are. Although my scorecard did not reflect it, I felt like I generally hit the ball well. Save for a few putts, my putting was terrible both days.

I get they are widely used on tour but so are all the other brands as well.

I had a really long post put together about putting and why certain putters are better for certain players, but I'll distill it down to these comments.
Scotty Camerons are used extensively on tour because they are the best feeling putters around, according to the best players and putters on tour. Have been for a few decades. Their balance is second to none and their milling is arguably the best in the business with Bettinardi and Peretti being right there. I can understand why some people don't like them, but when push comes to shove and I had to choose only one putter to have in my collection, it would be a Scotty Cameron. Now whether that be a Sante Fe, a Cira 62, or a Studio Design is open for debate.
As for the equipment snob, yep, they exist. They're goofs, but they exist. It's why PXG has seen explosive growth in their brand. Most of the players I know who are playing a Scotty are not sporting a Scotty cover. First thing did when they got any expensive putter was ditch the cover and get a generic, that way their putter doesn't find its way into someone else's bag when they leave their clubs on the stand while having a beverage or six. Hide those expensive clubs in plain sight!

I mitigate this risk with a slightly different strategy of having low end clubs under low end club covers. I'm double protected from theft!

Hitting the green on a par 3 is a victory for me. Par 3's are my nemesis.

I can hit most par 3 greens, it's the par 3, 3 putts that are my nemesis.

it really makes me sad that you have to worry about your clubs when you are at a course; however, i guess that is where we are at these days. on the days when i stop, i am going to jut go put my clubs in my vehicle.
on saturday i ordered the 3 wood to match my set and augment my driver, 5 wood and 4 hybrid. I think I am going to pull my 5 iron out of my bag, since i rarely if ever hit it as well as my 6

Is golf club theft that prevelant? I did have my clubs stolen out of my storage locker on my condo one time, but that doesn't seem like that counts. Does anyone actually have experience with clubs getting stolen at the course?

I've never heard of it myself or to anyone I know. But I've certainly heard of it off the course.

I'm not happy with everything, but after seven rounds to start the year my average score is 86.8 after years of struggling to break 90. Feels really good. I've noticed that tracking all your stats makes a huge difference and points you in the right direction on what to work on.
Fairways - 61%
Greens - 57%
Putting - 40%

There's definitely things you have to account for though. For example, looking at my horrible stats you'd think putting was my weakness, but he reality is my greens were abysmal last year, now I'm hitting the green on my second shot (par 4's) more than last year, which is resulting in much further putts than when I would come up ten feet short of the green last year and then chip it to within 8 feet of the hole.
So the difference is not a lost stroke from 2 putting, it's even from gaining a stroke from fairway to green.

I've noticed my biggest improvement has been playing "real golf". Make every shot matter and your score improves better than if you take mulligans and justify slight movement etc.
Today one guy in the group told me to take a mulligan on the the tee shot that shanked 50 feet in front of the tees, then upon driving up to my ball in thick grass said "push that out to better grass, spring rules".
I declined both and muscled it out about 150 yards to the middle of the fairway. Then hit a really satisfying approach to within 10 feet of the pin and sank it for par.
Last year I never would have done that. I would have swore, got worked up, taken a mulligan, ****ed that up because I was tense, got madder, made a 5-7 on the par 4.

That’s pretty awesome to be struggling to break 90 and now averaging a few strokes under! Well done!

Shot 90 from the 3 tees at mickleson this aft. 5 strokes better than last week, but not 60 km winds.

****, a 90 at Mickleson is very impressive, imo. That is a tough course. I feel like a couple lost balls is almost guaranteed, which for me is basically over 90 automatically.
Have they started the clubhouse yet?

Thank man. Not to mention those 90+ rounds last year typically featured mulligans and other stupid help. Like I said, real golf actually translates to better scores because you are "in each shot".
It's funny, we get in our heads that one hole destroys the round, but it really doesn't. I tripled the par 5, hole #3 today. Last year I would have thrown my hands up and proclaimed it a practice round. This year I got motivated and said "let's get those strokes back, one by one".
My mindset is 100% the biggest change this offseason. Way more critical to my improvement than practicing.

No lose balls today so that was helpful!
Well they have built the “launchpad” which is the top golf type place. The restaurant and such there.
They will be building a club house across the road though by the tees.

Damn, maybe I'll play a round there pretty soon. Anyone see deals come up for Mickleson, or is it full price or nada?
