I was watching American history X and I couldn’t help but think that if it weren’t for the big swastika on his chest Derek Vineyard and Charlie Kirk seemed pretty much indistinguishable in terms of their beliefs and views.

In 1998 Derek Vineyards views made him a Nazi.

In 2025 he’s a popular conservative commentator and hero of many people including a number of CPers.

There's zero nuance in politics anymore. Perspectives have to be extreme. Words get twisted. You can't seem to agree with one thing a politician does, if they've done something you don't agree with.

This is really the crux of the modern issue.
I don't think every Kirk supporter is a racist or bigot, but they certainly refuse to label him as those because he was on their team, and was a big player on their team.

So people dance around the moral conundrum of wanting to be on that team, but not really wanting to be admitted racists or bigots themselves.
They pretend everything is out of context or just ignore evidence they can't explain away.
Anything but have a sober reflection on your own team.
