Canuck fans back

Lol

If posters want to pretend they post here because it's an awesome site and good hockey conversation (all true) You can't just totally ghost the site when your team is doing poorly or your motives become obvious

Like clockwork.

Is anybody actually worried about the Canucks though?

We know Demko is physically fragile, several guys are shooting at a clip 3-4 times league average, and Tocchet didn't become a good coach overnight.

Probably looking at a predictable regression to the mean in the second half, early exit, and Pettersson walking anyways.

At the end of the day, both teams will do what they do best.

In hockey circles he is considered a very good coach rightly or wrongly.

I will say that this Canucks roster is by far the best he has ever had to work with.

I too think they will regress to some degree, it just remains to be seen how much.

I'm not worried about them. I actually don't care about them at all. Personally for me, I love the Flames and hate the Oilers. Every other team is just another team.

I do think they are a really good team though. They have talented young players that are all peaking together. Some of those things you mentioned will normalize at some point, but I still see them as a divisional contender.

Agreed on the Oilers vs. every one else. Canuck fans have always seemed jealous of teams like CGY/EDM that have storied rivalries and its always seemed like they want that, but have no one to hate that cares enough to hate them. And when they engage with you in person they just.. do it wrong? I think because they don't know how to have fun with it. See: Riots

I guess, but that's not saying much in the pacific, where 3 of the worst teams in the league currently reside (and Anaheim if they fall back to earth).

It also looks like Seattle has regressed a bit too.

Merely being mediocre puts you in the top 4 in the pacific.. or, "in contention"

Vegas remains in its own class at the end of the day, though.

Well, Coffey certainly is a Lowe syncophat, so maybe he is.

Jackson and Coffey have the ear of the owner currently, as the shine goes off everyone after a while, and Holland doesn't have it.

Holland now will be in full defiant mode. He's been around enough to know when his time is done, and that time is approaching. I believe Holland now in this case, Jackson is in full cover up mode.
Decisions, usually unpopular ones, not made not by Holland will be pinned on Holland.

Chia got saddled with many of those transactions he didn't sign off on, long after he ceded control as GM, but while he was still employed. Same thing will happen with Holland over the next few days, weeks or months.

But did Jackson and or Katz just sign Connor's junior coach assuming Connor would like that? What a debacle.

Is it almost worse that they didn’t consult him? Like, the brass made this big decision that would obviously create some controversy given how this is now the 3rd person directly connected to McDavid that has been brought into the organization. Not even a heads up bro? Ouch.

That’s exactly what happened. An Oiler insider told me Katz is in panic mode and is pulling out all the stops to ensure McDsvid isn’t going anywhere. This is just the start.

McDavid is effectively GM.

I don't buy this for a second, I get they might start negotiations thinking 'he'll love it' but if you actually want to keep Mc Sweatpants happy you tell what you are planning and ask him before you sign the new coach, it's not a bloody Christmas present, it neither needs nor do you want it to be a surprise if it's a crucial working relationship, maybe just maybe if the coach you want to keep him happy with has years of NHL experience under their belt preferably including getting an under performing team to start to perform, say one of his world cup team coaches, but the idea they signed a rookie coach just to keep him happy but the same time didn't bother to tell him before pulling the trigger is pure crap

Yes I buy they are doing any stupid thing to keep him happy, even something as asinine as signing his Jr coach, but he was calling the shots ever step of the way

It would be hilarious though...

"Surprise Connor! We got your Jr. Coach!!"

- "We hate each other."

"Ah.....crap."

It may have been mentioned before, but Woodcroft always looked like a really bad wax museum dummy. It was always creepy to see his face.
He needs to get as job in radio as nobody should have to look at him.

The Oilers are the smelly kid who got paired with the prettiest girl in class ( McDavid) for a group project. She got a good grade, and things seemed pretty normal, so she decided to pair with the weird kid again next group project.

Trouble for the pretty girl is that the weird kid took this the wrong way. Next thing you know the Weird kids starts bringing Heart shaped boxes of Chocolates (Jackson) and Cards ( Brown) and then finally Flowers ( Knoblauch).

Mean while, the Pretty Girl just hates the unwanted attention and can't wait for this project to be over so she can move to Carolina and only have to see the weird smelly kid twice a year.
