Hard to imagine this was plan B really. Just so dramatically different from what they started the summer with.

In 4-5 years any cash front deals with be valuable. A team like Arizona who won't be able to meet a cap floor will be paying teams for these types of contracts. Roles will be reversed.

I still look at it specifically in terms of the Flames right now, not the Flames 3 years from now.

The Flames got manhandled by McDavid. We had to find a way to fix that. Getting Kadri was the best way to do that. The opportunity was there...and here we go. The team needed to respond to getting stomped by McDavid, and this is some kinda response.

The more the lower tier insiders guaranteed Kadri to NYI the more I was encouraged that the Flames were still in on him.

It reminded me of the false Tkachuk-Eichel buzz.

We heard about Kadri having family here, we knew Brad was bloodthirsty after last month and I just didn't see him going east.
