Sub-par judgements by the refs (presumably to manage the Oilers back into the game) are what made it even close.

Should have been 4-1 LA

I actually forgot Kane was playing tonight at times. You would think his game would be suited for the playoffs, but I guess not.

Morrissey album. Those who remember the 80s will know.

As the talking heads are so fond of saying, Smith is like a third defenceman out there when handling the puck.
The trouble is, when he does that, he also plays goal like a third defenceman.

Really? Like Really? That takes a lot of balls considering the team has won one playoff round in 15 years.

It's probably true.
They have been in the league for about 4 decades. The first decade, they won 5 cups. The other 3 decades, they never made the playoffs.

Precisely. You have to make the playoffs to lose in the playoffs.
By percentage of playoff games won in franchise history, they are first in the league. By number of playoff games won, they are behind every Original Six team plus the Flyers, Penguins, Stars, Blues, and Islanders.
It's yet another way that the Oilers and their shills trade on the long-lost glory of the Gretzky era to cover up the sheer awfulness of the team ever since.

I expected a Mike Smith meltdown in the playoffs at some point but to see it in game one is a pleasant surprise. Kings need to play a lot better in their own end as Quick kind of bailed them out in this one.

Oilers are fragile right now and if they somehow drop 2 in a row at home they will be in too deep

Just watched the highlights and I am here to laugh. For a month now Oiler fans and media have been saying how great Mike Smith is and now they are literally wishing death upon the guy over on that other board.
They just never learn and they are simply No Good.
