It's a picture from 5 years ago or so...you will be happy to know it's no longer there

A perfectly good arena with irreparable design flaws, chunks of concrete falling off the roof, and structural damage left over from a major flood?
Some people have a disturbingly low threshold for ‘perfectly good’.

Yeah they could do alot better for an inspirational quote. Can't believe it has lasted as long as it has.

It's also just... not true?

How so? If you're only responsible occasionally, then you're irresponsible the rest of the time… which means you're not being responsible.
It makes perfect sense, but the wording is so clumsy that you have to think about it to figure it out. Sort of like Bilbo Baggins' line:
‘I don’t know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.’

It's from 2014. I don't know if it even survived that season.

Alright guys, keep your arena talk that won't ever happen (Unless Edwards actually pays for more than 50% of it) in its own thread. I've been waiting for 13 years for this vote.
We privately pay for our arena in Tempe, AZ

You can do that when you have a metro population of 4 million or so.

Yeah, but Murray Edwards and Alex Meruello have nearly the same net worth.. Edwards probably more so.

So what?
Meruelo needs to keep the Coyotes in Arizona to coin money off his gambling licence. Edwards isn't even the majority owner of the Flames, and he's not coining money off the team unless he sells his interest.
How is there any comparison between the two?

lol, wrong again...McMahon actually has decent rooms, they have been upgraded in recent years. Although I agree they can "make due" but this is the NHL and its a bad look

^wow, that’s actually surprising. It’s not that it’s particularly nice, it’s just that the rest of the stadium is a complete dump, so I would’ve expected the dressing rooms to follow suit!

At this rate, the Coyotes are likely propping up the gambling side of his business.
In the month of August (the most-recent month with reported data), they made a little over $5,000 in profit from their sports betting operations in Arizona: https://gaming.az.gov/sites/default/...Aug%202022.pdf
In the same period, Draft Kings made just over $9 million and Fan Duel made just under $9 million. MGM made $5.5 million and Caesars made $2.5 million. All of the operators in the state combined to make over $27.5 million in August. Sahara Bets (Meruelo's company) barely surpassed $5,000.

So in an average year if you stretch that out over 12 months, Sahara Bets makes about $60,000. That's about $20 million more than the Coyotes make at least haha.

They launched in January and didn't have a positive month until May, when the adjusted gross (total wagered - total paid out - total free/promotional credit) was just over $1,700. June was under $150 and July was under $450. August's $5,000+ crushed the previous 7 months combined for them. Through 8 months, their net positive is under $8,000.
