I don't enjoy the local hosts nor the subjects they talk about. I also dislike their sports takes and endless hockey talk.

I've talked to Kirsch about it and he basically said ratings are what they are so I decided to not listen anymore.

Fudge. Why are they arguing on air on Boomers first day back. This crap belongs in a staff meeting.

Because they have a terrible show with nothing else to talk about.

Even though MLB and CFL are in full swing now, noooooo let's talk about Cam Ward and the Carolina freakin Hurricanes for whole segments.

You'd think that there would be more Jays / MLB talk since Rogers owns the Jays, but no on July 27th we're talking about the Carolina Hurricanes backup goalie situation. Disgraceful and a good reason why I don't listen as often anymore. At least when Richards was there in the morning, other sports got their rightful due for a sports radio station.

The qualitynif the show is getting worse. It barely seems to be a sports show some days. As mentioned, theres CFL and MLB going in and the Jays have a competitive team again after a great year last year. We all get that this is a hockey town but it is July and if you have to resort to taliing about fringe howcky topics then take that as a sign to mive on to skmething else.

I dont know if Boomer is only a hockey fan and has little knowledge of othera sports. It seems co-hosts will bring up other sports but get shot down pretty quickly and directly.

I love the show, but admittedly it's pretty weak over the summer (which they admit to too). July-August is pretty much the only time I don't listen daily. Today's the first time in awhile I've listened, I was surprised to hear Boomer AND Pinder on the same show. Usually they just play tennis with vacations the entire summer it seems.

Boomer is a fun personality but yeah he seems to only want to talk hockey. I like Pinder and he really shot down Rob Kerr this morning in the Tyson Barrie discussion haha.

I feel like they rarely talk CFL or Stamps. Few days ago they mercilessly made fun of Kirsh for talking CFL (Riders). But hey, no problem talking about the Avs' RFA issues for 45 minutes.

Needs more Jays, more CFL/Stamps.

They were talking Jays when they were on the phone with Walker this morning (just after 8am). And even before that during their "clean it up" segment they were discussing Chris Sale and the ChiSox.

I think one of the issues is Boomer is a life long Yankees fan so isn't as invested in the Jays. Plus Jays games really seem to be a step-child on 960. It is better today but even now those are often pre-empted. I don't think the program manager, Kelley Kirsh, is a Jays fan - I think I recall hearing him making fun of the Jays on air a number of years ago, mentioning how they only broadcast them when there was nothing else happening (this was before the resurgence).

So it may be more than the on air staff. I'm sure there are many discussions about what will get air time. It is just the on air staff are the conduit of those decisions.

IMO there's more than enough Blue Jays coverage. Only a few years ago there would be days where the Jays may not even get a single mention unless they were talking to Stephen Brunt about poor attendance. Boomer is pretty well a hockey or nothing guy which is why Mike Richards was so much better as not only is he funnier he's a legit sports guy that follows more than just hockey. Boomer doesn't have a lot to offer this time of year as the hockey talk is slim pickings.

Strongly disagree with this.

As others have said, its July/August - should be a lot of baseball talk (Jays mostly, obviously, but MLB overall) as well as Stamps/CFL. Its the middle of summer - those are the sports going on. Why don't they try something even with the (Okotoks) Dawgs?

Hockey is always going to be #1, obviously, but the short-shift that anything effectively non-hockey gets is pretty bad in my opinion. They even effectively acknowledge this with stuff like "sports boomer hates".

I don't know about that. I know in the past (when the Jays were crap) he would go on about the Yankees but I think he's on the Jays bandwagon like most people now. Looking at his Twitter feed and the times when they go on location, he is always rocking that blue Blue Jays jacket.

I doubt he was that much of a die hard Yankees fan to begin with.

Yup I agree. With Rogers owning the station, you know they force them to talk Blue Jays as much as they can as well as putting the games on the radio (6pm - 8pm, when they play west coast teams and on the weekends). They did this a lot last September and early on this season.

When Richards left is when I stopped listening religiously. Molberg is just incapable of talking about any other sport besides hockey. Like you said, at least with Richards, he was knowledgeable in all sports. Molberg is better suited to be the host of a classic rock station.

Even during football season, the only time they talk NFL is when they have LaCanfora on and once the interview is over that's pretty much it.

Pinder seems like a knowledgeable guy in all sports and is a big Jays fan so I wouldn't be surprised if Toronto calls him, he is on the first flight out (Andrew Walker).

I do feel for them somewhat as in July/August, it is tough to talk sports as there really is only 1 sport going on. Even guys I listen to in the US, they hate this time of year and really struggle to fill a 3-4 hour show. In a hockey market like Calgary, it's even tougher.

For the few times I do tune in, I just cringe at all the lame jokes, 70s rock music and talk of food. Call me crazy but when I listen to a sports station, I actually want to hear sports talk. I wish TSN radio was here so at least there was some competition. Thank God for Satellite radio and Podcasts.

The proverbial Western Canadian Yankees fan whose impressionable years date back to anywhere from 1996-2009. Just like all the 'lifelong' Penguins fans who sprouted up at the dome right around 2008-2009.

When they aren't talking hockey - they lose listeners. That's the sad reality of the market, not the station.

You should listen to Pinder at 9 if you want Jays talk, dude is a full blown Jays homer. I feel like he talks Jays quite a bit. Agreed on needing more CFL talk too. I really like Pinder, but you can tell he's got that typical upnosed "Eastern" view of the CFL. It kinda bugs me. Yeah it's not the NFL, but it's an old league full of tradition, and it's professional football players. Like it for what it freakin is, stop over thinking it.

Its not the morning show, but in fairness the station seems to be getting the idea of more CFL/Stamps talk - I've heard numerous promos about a new cfl/stamps-focused show (I think?), and sounds like they are having some more stuff around actual games or something.

why don't they interview people? Rogers is showing the Rogers Cup. It's two hours ahead of us. Can't they get Arash Madani, Robert Bettauer Jimmy Arias heck even Damien Cox to discuss the tennis? Last week it could have been a Canadian Open golf guy. Just fill a 20 minute segment featuring a current event instead of bad jokes.

The artist of the day is bad enough. Today they were arguing the significance of the artist of the day, whether to continue it or not.

They have been discussing Brandon Bollig for the last half hour this morning. Sorry but I really have a hard time believing even the biggest hockey fans want to listen to this in July. In the fall and winter yes but personally I don't think listeners are tuning in July to hear Flames talk as those Flames or bust listeners are probably not even listening in the summer.
