Something must be done. These are modern times, not the Middle Ages. Our technology can't possibly be at the mercy of volcanic dust. People are inconvenienced, business is disrupted, international relations are compromised, all because of some geologic event? It is amazing that people are just laying down and taking this while our government does absolutely zip. What is the world supposed to do, just wait months, possibly years, until this ends? The whole situation is ludicrous and totally unacceptable.

Awesome. The Icelandic government should just turn that lava tap off, and shut down the ash factory while re-directing the wind masters to stop blowing the stuff over Europe.
Or blame Bush, or the Illuminati, or the Free Masons...which ever one of em is behind this act of terrorism.

We laugh, but people really are blaming Iceland for this.
And others are taking it in stride. Apparently one joke making the rounds in the UK right now is: "Can't you Icelanders read? We said SEND CASH!"

I'm currently in Helsinki and scheduled to fly to London tomorrow afternoon. What I just read seems to suggest most of Europe will open up tomorrow, but Finland will remain closed. That sucks for me since I'll probably miss my flight home from the UK on Wednesday.
How does the CO2 and other crap pumped into the air with this compare to industrial sites such as oilsands. I don't want to turn it into that stupid oilsands are harmless argument, just curious.
