Icelandic Volcano eruption - my brother with some cool video

Yeah, I kind of doubt Thor's brother's name is "Mike." Not the most common Icelandic name...

Can't say I'm "jealous" exactly, but it's getting close to time for my pilgrimage. I may go this Christmas--my grandmother's turning 100.

Not nearly as dramatic as the Icelandic eruption, but here's a timelapse of the most recent eruption on Mt. St. Helens - mostly a "dome-building" eruption. It's technically still erupting, but the dome seems to be mostly stable right now. It still creeps me out sometimes to live this close to an erupting volcano, though I wasn't here in 1980 when it really blew.

UPDATE, a new eruption 2 days after the original one died down. This one causing massive problems for flights in the UK and other parts of Europe.

London, England (CNN) -- A huge plume of volcanic ash sweeping in from Iceland forced the closure of air space over five countries Thursday causing travel chaos across Northern Europe.
Britain and Ireland moved first to shut their air space for six hours from midday, followed by planned closures over Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands.
Denmark's air space agency Navair confirmed its skies will close from 6 p.m (12 p.m. ET). Amsterdam's Schiophol Airport says that Dutch air space will shut down from 7 p.m. local (1 p.m. ET) and Sweden's aviation authority, LFV says its air space will close from 10 p.m. (4 p.m. ET).
It is not known when they will re-open.

The Icelandic language is awesome BTW it looks like someone mashed a keyboard.
