This was my assumption ... although I would say with the amount of stuff and changes that people in their late 70's and older have lived through, they probably are entitled to a bit more slack than the rest of us.

I suggest you reserve your opinion until you know something, your ignorance of the elderly, and their hard earned existence is shameful.

For instance, I have seen the tattoo's of elderly family friends held in the German concentration camps, and heard the seldom told stories of survival from civilians during WWII, told by the same.

My German mother in law and her sisters tell of rolling drums of hidden borscht (soup) across enemy lines (German/Russian) during a lull in the shooting/booming... they were kids.

Twenty something million soldiers died in WWII, but fifty something million civilians died, and you suggest ("Not dying doesn't earn you anything") NICE.

If the elderly didn't earn anything, what exactly do you think you deserve when you get old Fotze ? POS

There is a really great company here in Calgary called Nurse Next Door - our purpose is to help seniors (and their families) live safe, independant and with dignity in their own homes (where ever that might be)... Give them a call if you need some help/guidence...

Plus one of the owners is a really great guy!!!

Seriously though, it isn't an easy situation to be in, we deal with people everyday that are at the end of their ropes... Overtime more and more of us are going to be dealing with it in some shape or form - don't wait for it to start thinking what you are going to do - talk to your parents now and set the stage for later, you'll be glad you did... Feel free to PM me as well and we can talk about how we can help...

But the German concentration camp guards are old now too. A lot of elderly people deserve to enjoy their later years, but it's because of the things that they've done/gone through in their lives - not strictly because they were born a long time ago.

Not every member of the blue rinse brigade did time in a concentration camp.

Charles Manson is now a senior. Do you think he deserves something for not dying?

This demise is 100% inevitable, and maybe she knows that. Maybe for her it's a quality vs. quantity thing..she would rather be out, living her life and accepting the fact that she is taking risks which may shorten her life, as opposed to sitting safely in a chair in her home, and just waiting for the end.
