There is a really great company here in Calgary called Nurse Next Door - our purpose is to help seniors (and their families) live safe, independant and with dignity in their own homes (where ever that might be)... Give them a call if you need some help/guidence...

Plus one of the owners is a really great guy!!!

Seriously though, it isn't an easy situation to be in, we deal with people everyday that are at the end of their ropes... Overtime more and more of us are going to be dealing with it in some shape or form - don't wait for it to start thinking what you are going to do - talk to your parents now and set the stage for later, you'll be glad you did... But the German concentration camp guards are old now too. A lot of elderly people deserve to enjoy their later years, but it's because of the things that they've done/gone through in their lives - not strictly because they were born a long time ago.

This demise is 100% inevitable, and maybe she knows that. Maybe for her it's a quality vs. quantity thing..she would rather be out, living her life and accepting the fact that she is taking risks which may shorten her life, as opposed to sitting safely in a chair in her home, and just waiting for the end.
