No idea why that last part is blanked out.

Hmmm, maybe I'm doing it wrong. I opened terminal and typed exactly what you said. All that came up was what I typed a few posts up.

Can you see that? Maybe it's a issue with the page.
That one doesn't load either.

Can it be something else since you said the traceroute says it is fine?

If you are hitting their servers but not getting anything back then it is probably one of 2 things:

Your browser won't display the information. Have you tried a different browser? Is there blocking software on your computer?

Your request is being ignored by the server for some strange reason. Your IP range might be blacklisted? The port you are connecting on might be blocked? Maybe try https instead of http? if the problem is in this range, it will probably take a call to them to work it out.

I am just grasping at straws here.

What does the command do after you enter it? The command can take a minute or two to run fully, after you get that first line it should write out each line slowly.

But if the traceroute is working fine, then it's something else.

What exactly happens in the browser when you try to go to the page? Does the page just stay blank while the progress indicator spins? Does the page finish loading but you just get a blank page? Does it return an actual error code (501, 440, etc)?

When I type it in, it just keeps saying that it's loading forever. Eventually it comes up saying that there was a problem loading the page, that the connection timed out because it was taking too long. There is no error code though.

I'm not seeing anything specifically wrong with those numbers. You get a better response than I do.

I'm thinking you might have a browser issue, or you got blacklisted. Do you login to check something?

Maybe change browsers. See if that changes anything.

Or use https.

Instead of going "http://www.forces.ca" go "https://www.forces.ca"

See if that changes anything.

I tried all that, as well as a different browser. Same result.

I don't login to do anything, I'm just trying to view the page for information.

What would be a reason I got blacklisted? Maybe they really don't want me in the Army

Have you tried a different computer on your internet connection?

If for some strange reason they may be blacklisting your IP range, connect to a proxy or use hotspotshield and see if that works.

Sometimes IP's or IP ranges get banned, sometimes on purpose and sometimes by accident. If someone using the same ISP you are in a similar IP range was attacking their website (for example) they may have blocked a range of IPs that just happened to include you as well.

That you can traceroute there but you can't view the web page makes me think it's a routing issue with port 80 (the port web pages go over) still.

Like H&L said the ultimate test would be to try a different computer (or your phone if your phone supports wifi) and if that gets the same result, then call your ISP but good luck getting anywhere, this kind of problem is beyond most of what their regular tech support would be able to do. Try and get transferred to level 3 support or their noc or something.

Maybe you're in the same range of IPs as Mayer is?

Who is the ISP for those who can't access it?

Okay, Lchoy is in Edmonton. Mayer IIRC is from Calgary.

Weird.

Here is the whois.

I fired off an email explaining the problem.

Try running a traceroute to 131.137.255.2 and 131.137.252.252 and see if that works.

I got all kinds of packet loss on my results. For some reason I can't post it here. Can't copy and paste from cmd.

But I can still access the site. I'm with Platinum.

Platinum is on supernet?

I can't tracert through to either of thier name servers either. It craps out as soon as it leaves Shaw and goes to Telus. (I am on Shaw)

My wife works for Shaw and I briefly mentioned it, she said it could be the main site being Flash.

Try the html site: http://forces.ca/html/index.aspx?lang=en

Ok, so it doesn't work with a different computer in my house either.

And I'm with Shaw, in Calgary.

Oh, and the html site also doesn't load for me. The weird thing is that even a week or two ago I was able to browse the site fine. It loaded no problem.

I've never had something like this happen before.

Yeah, Platinum is on the Supernet and routes through Bell in Calgary on the way to Toronto and eventually Quebec.

Heh. Different computers won't really change anything outside of being a different browser, different operating system, different settings, purged DNS settings and all that.

Either way, I'll post what I get from the email if he replies and we'll go from there. You could also try talking to someone from Shaw and get them to do a traceroute/ping and see what the response is.

At the moment I'm thinking it might have something to do with their nameservers. I'm getting all kind of weird results when I tracert it. Their being the Forces website.
