To answer some questions:
I was born in Newfoundland. I was a substitute teacher there for 4 years, I couldn't find full time work. My uncle was the principal at the school here at the time and asked me to go up for 4 months. Well it has been 3 years now and I am still here. I met my fiance here as well so that makes things a little easier.
I just got in from Caribou hunting so please excuse my late reply to a lot of questions. I have also been having trouble with the internet here. Sometimes it works, most times it doesn't!
I just updated the original post with NEW PICTURES

What's crime like up there? Non-existent? Or would a jerry can of gas get stolen if you were so foolish as to leave it in plain view? I mention gas because I think I remember you once saying that your dogs barked when someone tried to steal gas or something. Is that a rare occurrence?

Crime is pretty low. My gas cans can be seen by the road right now but I don't anticipate anyone will steal. Gas gets stolen but you are more likely to have booze stolen from inside your house than anything else. No one has tried to come into my place yet but over xmas several people had booze stolen from them. One guy had it taken from his fridge!

Congratulations on the beautiful family! You did good for yourself with your fiance, the baby's looks must have come from her
That polar bear suit is awesome haha. Is that normal wear up there or a Halloween costume?

So in a community that small and 100% isolated, do people have a good idea of who commits the crimes? How does the community deal with it? Do the perps get their comeuppance?

Nice, I've worked in some remote places like near north slope Alaska and northern central Russia for upto 5 weeks at a time and I always wondered how a non local would enjoy life in these types of places. Good to here that there are a lot of things to keep people entertained but it still takes a rare bread in my mind to live in a secluded place like that.
I know you hunt but I am guessing you can't get all your essentials from that, so I was always wondering what the cost of food in these places was like.

The Inuit believe that if you topple over an Inukshuk someone will die. So that really isn't an option!

Lucky for me I love meat so we eat Caribou about 4 times a week, prepared in a number of different ways. Food is expensive and on average is double the cost of food anywhere else but I receive 20K/year to offset those costs.
Juts to give you an idea:
4L milk is $13
Can of coke is $2.60
Pack of cigarettes are $20

Did you have your baby in Chesterfield Inlet or did you have to go somewhere else?

We do not have a hospital here, just a nursing station. We went to Newfoundland to have the baby but most people go to Winnipeg.

I don't think the most important question has been asked: Does your wife have any sisters?

What does Caribou taste like? What are the different ways to cook it?
