I just remember me and all my friends going trick-or-treating when I was younger. Everyone was totally geared up for it, the streets were just flooded with kids all night and I can remember how much fun it was. Now, on a good Halloween I might get 50 kids total. Half the people don't even make an attempt to decorate their houses anymore. It's depressing.

I've been stalled at 34 kids for 20 minutes or so. Hope I get another wave 'cause I have waaaaay too much candy left.
I've noticed the quality of candy being given out by other people in my neighbourhood is pretty awesome...way better than when we were kids. Full size bars, little bags with a crap-mix of candy in them from a single house, etc. When I was little each house gave one mini chocolate bar and that was it.

We are probably around 40 here in Bridlewood between 7:15 and 8:00 but we were out Trick er Treating from 6:30 to 7:15 so I don't know the count between then but the bowl of Candy I left out was gone.
I love Halloween, I finaly got to go trickertreating again. My daughter is one and we went out and now I get a pail of Candy to eat and don't have to share it with anyone. I am so excited.

About a dozen, live in a cul de sac and it is usually pretty slow. Had a little kid giggle when I dumped a handful of candy in her bag so I gave her the whole bowl.

There's always one or two of them every year. Last time a couple of teenaged guys came around even though I reluctantly gave them some candy, they still decided to kick my pumpkins all around the yard right before they left (although I didn't realize it until later on).
I mean, really. How big of a loser do you have to be to go out trick or treating with no costume, cuss people out and destroy private property. I don't understand people sometimes...

I don't get how they get any kind of enjoyment out of it personally. The thing is they know people will give them candy because they look like they will destroy your property and no one wants that. I hate that they know that and that I was a part of it by giving them candy.
Semi related, but not really, the other day I was walking my dog and there was a group of kids standing in the middle of the street. They were taking turns shaking up a big bottle of pop, throwing it in the air and letting it hit the ground. They were maybe in the 11th grade or so. I don't see the fun in this. I see more fun in actually drinking the pop, or at their age, I would have been adding some kind of hard liquor to the pop and then drinking it, but throwing it in the air is not something that would have crossed my mind.
But I agree with your earlier statement about Halloween dying, though to be honest, people were saying that when I was little and it's still around. I think it's just morphing more into giant parties where the parents feel they have more control over what their kids get. I try and do my part to keep it going and make it fun for the kiddies. I always stay home and hand out candy and carve pumpkins. I went all out on the decorations this year too. It was disappointing to see less kids, but it was fun for those that did go out.

68th kid came by @ 8:25 ish I was giving handfulls of candy and bags of cheesies to the smaller ones, just filling their little pumpkins and treat bags, their little eyes are right wide looking at me like I'm Willy Wonka or something, and just 1 bag and 1 candy to the biggers teens with no costumes. They look at me and I have a huge f'n caldren of candy and I give 'em 1. I'm like come back with a little effort and you can have the rest.

9:00 is when you get the stragglers. Usually they are older and their costumes consist of acne.

I had my usual Calgary ammount, which lasted only 45 minutes here. Clearly more kids out when it's 80 degrees out than what I remember in Calgary

Two, and I think we're done. There aren't that many little kids left in my neighborhood. Both of my kids are over at friends houses where they gather up a huge population of kids and canvas the neighborhood. It was our turn last year, this year, I have a Flames game to watch.

Just gave a kid 6 full size coffee crisps. I think he's my last one here at 9:10 for a total of 41 kids.

14 was the total this year here in Hillhurst. Lots of kids about, but unfortunately my door placement probably cuts business in half.
Oh well.. can't let these full size mr big bars go to waste... nom nom nom...
