He actually was arrested in his car since that's where they caught him. He did hire an expensive lawyer and plea bargained to have the charges reduced to a point where he wouldn't have to register as a sex offender. It definitely wasn't a traffic offense and he definitely lost his career as a teacher over it so not a traffic offense at all.

Yeah but I find that cops do stuff like this all the time.

I had a client who got sued by a former landlord who had a police officer track him down for him and had the cop go to his door in uniform to pressure him into paying for damage to a property that my guy had vacated. This wasn't a criminal investigation either and the cop would have known it, it was a civil case that the police should not even be involved with.
