Default Is there a way to do a free criminal record check online?

Someone was telling me there is way this can be done. Does anyone know how?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Not for free that I'm aware of, but the sites for doing credit checks that landlords use (Rent Check etc) usually have an option to do this.

I started plugging in names of people I work with and found out some things I really didn't want to know.

IIRC, you're a law student/lawyer correct?

Does Westlaw/Lexus in Canada have some type of check? I thought it did down here in the US (only to be used for actual legal purposes though).

I say just post the name of the dude and then get one of the mods to make a poll and poll CP as to what this individual has on his record. Majority rules.

I must say there are some messed up people who share my name down there. Mildly entertains me.

Well I'm actually an articling student, so in between the two right now.

The law firm where I work is quite small and doesn't actually have a Westlaw/Lexus subscription.... perhaps I will contact a friend of mine who does.

Thanks for the tip.

To save your time, no it doesn't. Criminal records are administered much differently in Canada versus the U.S. To my knowledge, none of Westlaw/Lexis/Quicklaw/eCarswell have functionality to locate criminal records.

Of course I wasn't aware of any online services that did it. I thought all requests for criminal recor checks had to be submitted through the local police station or RCMP detachment, but it seems like that's what the online sites are doing anyway.

Out of curiosity, I looked up one of my stalkers, who I KNOW was convicted of a crime sexual in nature, but it says Traffic/Other. I suppose it depends on how certain Counties report crimes.

I don't really want to look up neighbors or coworkers. It would be really weird to find something.

Uhh...so there's some Sheriff out there: "hmm, I hate paperwork...umm, fill out line A, check off box B... Raped inside moving car. Okay, classify as traffic/other".
