You'd think so, but they are where they are (in place of Coyotes) because they weren't allowed in the old Office Depot building.
Cowboy's is going to want to stay downtown, what other locations are around that they could fit into?

I think when Cowboys moved, the owner stated at the time that this was not a permanent location. So he must have had an idea this was coming.
I actually ended up there the night before my wedding last July. Fun times!

I'm sure they're cashing in nicely by getting bought out by the city again too. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if they moved there knowing that it had buyout potential in the near future.

Cowboys isn't getting bought out, the article says the land has been bought and Cowboy's lease is expiring.
So either
a) Someone owsn the land/buidling and they are going to make out like bandits, and Vickers is SOL for the location
or
b) The city owns the land and leased it to Vickers who owns the building. In which case he MIGHT get paid for the building, but he won't make out like a bandit as he would if he owned the land.

I don't get the flap on CP when Cowboys is brought up either. Must be jealousy or something. I've always thought that it's a good business model for a successful nightclub.
Personally, I've outgrown the place as I am late 20's with a wife and kid but didn't mind the place back in my university days. Beer, music, women and fun.
I am also probably a bit biased because that is where I met my wife who used to work there.

I confess that I'm almost 23 and have never been to Cowboys. Of course that's probably because I've spent my bar star days not in Calgary.

seriously music to my ears. and 10 to 1 he doesn't have a new location yet. Getting approval for a large venue, well he will have to locate outside of downtown.

i wouldnt be surprised if the fix was in anyhow ... Vickers is a politically connected individual and whether you like his operations or not, a shrewd businessman. you dont think he didnt know the land was earmarked for the EV development already?
he probably owns the compmany that owns the land that was appropriated by the city and is getting compensated for his troubles through the back door. i dont doubt for a moment he was already scoping out his new loction before the ink was dry on this one.

If he can find some land owner to sell and put something up along the CP rail line... that would seem to make sense to me.

That one is most certainly true. Although I know better than to fight when I'm blacked. In fact I'm a rather non violent fan. I usually go for the "let's all get along, but the Stamps suck".

That is in part because in reality, the nightlife in Calgary is lame, so little options, one should not come to Calgary for a club/party atmosphere, because you will be sorely dissapointed. There are not many clubs left anymore and has for the most part turned into a lounge type city. They did very good advertising and marketing upon opening and capitalized in the old location.
