See Ernie's reply. I never saw the film, but being nominated for an oscar makes me think it was a serious and well acted role.

Eddie Murphy is far more talented than he gets credit for because of his awful movie choices. It may be a gamble, but I wouldn't be surprised if he nails it.
As for Robin, pleasegodno

I don't even think we could come up with more bizarre casting calls than Eddie Murphy and Shia Laboef... Shoot me now.

I like Shia Laboof...
...in movies like Disturbia.
This sounds to ludicrous to be true. Eddie Murphy? No way - that guy has been INTENTIONALLY trying to kill his own career for years now (does anyone remember the name of the movie he was in this year, where he's small and lives inside someone's head? Didn't think so.)... I am sure he's as flustered as anyone that it hasn't worked yet.
I have an idea for a great Batman script that would nicely wrap up the trilogy and be well in keeping with the spirit of the two movies that have come out thus far. Memo to Chris Nolan and the team at WB - let me know if you want details, we'll talk. I think it could be good. Unless... you guys think the guy who ruined Indiana Jones is 'good.' In which case, go eff yourselves - as far as I am concerned, this series is already done.

A Black Riddler? Insanity.
I have nothing against the Robin character, but it really doesnt fit into the dark style of the series.
Oh yeah, and this is total BS, The Sun is as much of a rag over there as it is over here.

Yes, he was. He plays a kind of James Brown / Otis Redding / Marvin Gaye amalgamation of character and he is absolutely fantastic. He lost to Alan Arkin. I love Alan Arkin, but Eddie Murphy really deserved that award.

And it earned you some votes from this judge!
As for this suggestion about Eddie Murphy, I don't believe it for a second. Other than Katie Holmes, everyone who's been cast in this series is, first and foremost, an excellent dramatic actor. I don't expect them to mess with that formula now.

Published on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 - 7:08pm Bull BATMAN rumors that are being generated solely for the purpose of traffic!
Hey folks, Harry here... I'm being inundated with bull rumors from sites that are just attempting to pad their numbers with created and made up rumors that would cause spikes in traffic because they surround a new BATMAN film.
There is not one shred of reality in any of these rumors.

Even more disturbing than the casting rumours is the suggestion that there will be so many characters. Please can we just have one hero and one villain, so as not to ruin the films like the last Batman series? Two-Face was an unnecessary distraction from the compelling Joker character in the Dark Knight.

Not to side track the thread, but icarus, I'd argue the movie needed Dent/Two-Face in it, the whole film was about Dent. Now, I'd say what we need in the next movie is no un-needed villains. If they need one, then one it is, if two, then so be it.
By the way, Chris Nolan hasn't even agreed to direct the next movie. It would be huge news if he had. Until you see a thread on here saying "Chris Nolan back for next Batman movie!" then you KNOW that all casting rumors are false. Why would they cast without a director?

I gotta disagree with Nolan. The Penguin can work, you just can't turn him into a cartoon character.
I think the best way to tackle the Penguin is to make him a gangster - fat and waddles a bit, but ruthless like Capone. He obviously earns the nickname as a young punk growing up in the mob and through years of dedication, hard work and the occasional murder - he's the boss.
The character might not work as the main villain, but it could work within the film. Just don't turn him into Danny Devito and you'll be fine.
Oh yeah, just say "no" to Eddie Murphy.
