Why would you ever buy an extended warranty?
Those are only money-making schemes for Best Buy/Futureshop.
Nintendo has great warranties for all their products already.
I bought my Wii (Which I promptly sold) from HMV 2 years ago

Zellers is the best store ever. No one shops there. I found my console and there was at least 10 more. I remember about 7 years ago and a heat wave rolled through town, I couldn't find a fan anywhere. Zellers had about 200.
Anyway thanks for the tip. Off to play Wii now.

Not many people know but some of the super super drug marts have electroinc sections and sometimes carry them. I was surprised when I went to one near my place a month ago and they had a few consoles.

Who still wants to buy a Wii? ######s?
Anyway, as for extended warranties. I agree they are a money making scheme, and not worth it. HOW EVER!! For the xbox 360 I would say to buy a "replacement plan" because they are not made very well. I have gone through 5 myself, but the new ones seem to be decent, so I wouldn't recommend them anymore, but I would have...if that makes sense.
Laptops are the only real item that sort of need them, because some of the components are expensive to replace.
If you do buy a Wii forget the service plan, you will be throwing over $50 in the trashcan known as the CEO's wallet.

Are they really that hard to find nowadays? I see them in stock pretty regularly everywhere I go. I guess we'll see this Christmas if that's the case again.

Wii is first system to sell one million units in Canada:
http://technology.canoe.ca/2008/08/25/6570661-cp.html
In the first seven months of 2008, the Wii outsold its opposition combined. Canadian consumers bought 376,000 Wiis, compared to 200,000 for the PS3 and 154,000 for the Xbox 360.
In "NHL 2K9," due out Sept. 9 from 2K Sports, gamers can even stage an on-ice hockey fight using the remote.
Through June, Nintendo had sold 29.62 million Wiis worldwide. That compared to worldwide sales of 19 million for the Xbox 360 and 14.4 million for the PlayStation 3.
