Announcer: On the outer reaches of our galaxy spins the planet Estrogena, where there evolved an advanced race of women: Planet of the Enormous Hooters.
Queen: Bring the deformed one to me!
Courtier #1: Queen Zarma, your Exalted Fullness. We have brought the prisoner.
Courtier #2: Look! Her breasts are so small. They look like melons!
[ everyone laughs ]
Prisoner: Oh, please don't belittle me.
Queen: You are a disgrace to our planet. I hereby banish you to the planet Earth, where your undersize breasts will go unnoticed, and you may live your life in anonymity. Take her to the spaceship - she disgusts me!

Well i must say that my mornings are much better now without that sick feeling i always had after a solid night of getting trashed..
I do miss casual drunken bar sex with a random though...

Congratulations. Coming from a family with a few alcoholics I know how difficult it can be to give up drinking. For me it was simple. I got married and had kids. Allthough I havn't quit completely,I will go weeks between drinks.

Ha, nice. A couple years ago I quit drinking. I went out on a Tuesday night, played pool for three hours, drank 18 highballs and woke up in Strathmore...and I had an interview coming in for a job at 10am. So, after that I decided it was probably time to take it easy. Ive started drinking beer again but haven't touched hard liquor since that night.
Those three months were pretty good. I agree with all flamesfever's points, and I lost about 15 pounds.

There's nothing like an ice cold beer on a hot summers day after a round of golf. Other than that i could go without a drop of alcohol. My friends all got married so a night on the town is out of the picture. Cripes my bro was home for Chritsmas and left a 24 pack of beer in my garage - still sitting there unopened.

When I was in my 20's I never had any liqueur in the house because we would always drink every last drop. Always had to hit the liqueur store to get more. Now I have a fully stocked liqueur cabinet and rarely have a drop.

yeah, hard liquor and Habby have never worked very well together. I become Chris Nilan (or at least I think I'm him) when I drink lots of the hard stuff.
I quit drinking for 6 months the year I quit smoking, it worked very well for me. I have thought a bunch recently about quitting altogether again as I still really want to smoke when I drink even one beer.

I've gone 18 hours now.
Another 2 to go until I can start again.
Sounds bad, but I had a glass of wine last night, and I'll probably have 3 or 4 beers tonight. Not as bad as it soundsed. And I went since last weekend before the wine last night.
I've had many reasons to quit and really gave it serious considerations more than once, but I think in the end, health reasons will be the only reason I would quit the beer.
I have cut down by about a trillion percent since when I was younger though.

I have to say, all these people who "cut down" from when they were younger are really giving me hope for when I'm older.

The bottom line is that if you're an addictive personality, you either drink, or not at all.
I've seen it with family members, addictive people can't stop after one or two and it get's out of hand.

I'd say when I had a kid, I had a really hard time getting drunk. Before that it was no problem. Now I have to be on a golf trip with some friends, away from my immediate family. Responsibility? setting an example? other? Not sure, but it seemed to shut the drunk gate in my brain.

Nice job on going five months without drinking. I've only had two beers in the last month (hockey championship party) because i'm currently training for a marathon and drinking is probably one of the worst things you can do if you want to get in shape. Anyways it's been tough cause I just turned 18 a few weeks ago.
Edit: I will however take a week off of my training when i head down to cancun and proceed to get sh*tfaced every night
