That really is quite a coincidence, Duncan is not that common of a name for a dog.

I've met a Sheltie and a Chocolate Lab with that name at the park over the years. Other than that, more often when I called that name, some feller would turn his head.

This reminds me of something that I think is quite funny. Prior to us having springers, we had a German Shorthair Pointer. His name was Mac. Beautiful dog, excellent disposition, but they were bred to be hunted off horses so they have a tendency to roam.
Anyhow, I live in the country by Priddis, we have a quarter section here. We have a small creek that we have damned up to form a trout pond. So usually when Mac disappeared off the yard, he was down at the pond chasing ducks or something. Anyhow, Mac was gone, so I hiked down there and was crying out, Macccccccccccc, Maccccccccccc, Maccccc, calling him. Our neighbors live fairly close to the trout pond and are Scottish, last name is MacKenzie. Well, our dog Mac never responded to me calling his name, but the neighbor came running!!!! I had forgotten that Mac was also the neighbor's nickname ))
We got our first springer, Jessie, while we still had Mac. And our son was training her, taking her to some field trials etc. and they use live pidgeons, wings clipped. Anyhow, my son had 2 of these pidgeons and we kept them in an old rabbit coop down by the horse corrals. So when Mac disappeared yet once again, I looked all over, could not find him. I finally gave up and was just going to wait for him to come home. In the meantime, my husband went down to the corrals to tend to the horses. And there was Mac, pointing the pidgeons!!! Mac probably thought, gee, only took you a couple of hours to get here, I have been pointing these birds the whole time!!!

Nice Maine Coon Hoot . . . we had one named Willie as well at one time.
We have six animals. Two dogs, four cats. All but one are rescues of one sort or another.
Below, Keeper was ironically named by her former owners who gave her up at one year of age. She's 9.5 now. Keeper and her shadow.
Below is Polly. She was abused in a pet store which resulted in the loss of her two back feet. But she gets around on her stumpies outside with constant human supervision and catches the occasional mouse.
Below is Abby, a golden who came to us as a puppy.
Below, Skyler, son of Polly. The latter, in her time of distress, came to us with five barely formed kittens, of which Skyler was one. We kept him and found good homes for the others.
Maude, along with her sister Daisy, came to us after washing up on a nearby acreage as starving, motherless kittens. They're still feral and difficult to catch, preferring the dogs to humans.
I've got some pictures of Daisy around, just not handy.

Those are some great pics everyone. Cow, whoever is taking yours is quite the photographer, really nice!
I have a bit of an interesting story to go along with my pics here. This first picture is of Xiao Mi (pronounced Shao Me - meaning 'little rice') and Xiao Mai (Shao My - 'little wheat') as pups. We bought them off the street out of a little cage and about a week after we got them they became deadly sick and almost died. If it wasn't for my wife's nursing, neither of them would probably be with us today.
They were both great dogs and practically inseparable:
Then one day the boy, Xiao Mai, decided he needed to get his rocks off in another dog that lives in our building a couple floors up. Not long after that he ran away from home and left all three of us in tears for a long time. Xiao Mi probably more than anyone as she cried for him a long while after.
Now, I'm not a religious person in the least, but I do believe a small miracle occurred as we found out that he had gotten the dog from the other family pregnant and she was about to have pups, so we managed to talk the owner into letting us have first pick of the litter. There was one pup, a little girl, that looked almost identical to our Xiao Mai and we had to have her. We gave her an English name, Misty.
At first Xiao Mi hated this little rascal! Who was this little runt trying to take Xiao Mai's place? But after about a week started to get a bit more comfortable with her and now would defend her little niece to the death if she had to and often gets into scraps with other dogs who get too close to Misty.
So, although losing Xiao Mai was very difficult and heart breaking, we were blessed with getting his daughter.

Ya he has almost turned into a dog, I will only let him outside if I am around (I can't risk losing him ) but he will run around the backyard and when it is time to come in if I say "Bed Time Notorious" he will come trouting in without me having to chase him or anything. Pretty funny stuff the first time people see it...

Thanks! I forgot to mention his name is Notorious K.A.T., Notorious for short, and weighing over 15 pounds he fits his name.
I don't know how it got started but me and my friends didn't want our cats to have common names. So now we have Notorious K.A.T., Tupac ShaKat, JayC(at) and of course P. Kitty.
Also beautiful pics Cowperson, I love the one with Polly sitting in a feild.

These are our 4 horses.
From left to right you will see, Max, JR, Dynamite and Red. Max is 20ish now and as you can see by the size of his girth, he enjoys his food, JR is going on 28 which is like totally ancient for a horse, Dynamite is around 6 and Red is around 12.
JR is the patriarch. He no longer gets ridden in the mountains, just maybe around our property if we have company, then we put the person with the least horse riding experience on JR, he is totally reliable.
We got JR when he was around 4 years old, we had other horses at that time. When asked about the name JR, they said, he was named after that same character in the TV series Dallas. Well, how true to his name he was. Horses have quite a hierarchy and usually when you get a new horse and introduce them to your other horses, that new horse is bottom of the totem pole. Not JR, he made order in 20 minutes!! Even now, while he is not very active, the other horses still give him his respect and when you open the corral gates to let them out, they let JR go out first. And none of the other horses try to eat JR's pile of hay either, just a code of honor they have.
This is a close up of Dynamite, he and Red are now the main riding horses for my husband. Dynamite is the youngest and still has quite a bit of "energy". We got him when he was about 4 too and the brand you see on him is from the people we bought him from. We have our own brand, but have not bothered to put a second one on Dynamite. Our brand is a reverse L K
