It doesn't necessarily. That is the point. They are no more racist by default for moving to seperate themselves from the Black community (and that is what it is largely all about. I have family & friends who have watched as entire neighbourhoods move away when one black family moved in, out of fear of losing property value - it is sick) than Dawg is racist by default for using the N-word despite NOT seperating himself from the black community.
It is REALLY easy to point fingers at someone who sounds racist, from behind those walls. But how many of their own kids are dating black women? Mean while he lets the N-bomb go and he is the bad guy?
I have a feeling that black people are more offended when two upper-class white people look scared when they pass them on the street (not saying a word, but their fear of being mugged being racist in and of itself - the scene from the movie 'Crash' coming to mind...) than Dwag using the N-word, someone who has slept in the same jail cells and lived on the same streets.
But like i said, that STILL does not make it right. I just don't think it makes him racist either - just ignorant.

I agree with parts of that, but labelling Republicans and all gated community residents is completely ignorant. "White flight", as it is referred to, is an issue, but it's not restricted to political affiliations or to gated communities.
I dont live in an all white neighborhood, I dont restrict anyone from dating a black person and I am no more cautious around black people on the street than Asian, Native, Hispanic or Caucasion. Therefore, I will point my finger at Dawg for being an bigot and racist.
It should be interesting to see how some of his captives react to him after this news makes it around the island. The "find God" and "you need to change your life" s**t that he preaches will be seen for what it is - hypocrisy.

Too bad for A&E, thats their big moneymaker. Good thing they bought the rights to Sopranos from HBO, theyve been getting fantastic ratings playing those reruns...although theyre already up to midway through season five, thats gonna be done with pretty quick itself.

I was just picking one stereotype to balance the 'dawg stereotype' for the sake of the larger point. There are enlightened people in EVERY group and sub-group, just like there are bigots in EVERY group and sub-group.
The point is simply that a lot of people talk the talk these days and feel rightous in pointing the finger at others that don't talk the talk, yet those very same people are living lives totally isolated from the day to day realities of dealing with entire communities 'below' them. The fact that social economics in the United States so closely mirrors race is an unfortunate excuse for those people. Where they can simply dislike dealing with poor people, allowing them to not point out that they are black or hispanic (or 'white trash', which has its own racist undertones). This Dawg guy is knee deep in it his entire life and he is the suddenly the racist??? Too simple in my opinion.
And really, while used as just a counter-stereotype, i can virtually guarantee that there are more republicans/capita living in gated communities in the United States than there are in any other identifiable community! Can you show otherwise?
Regardless, i am NOT defending Dawg here, he is obviously quite ignorant. ALL i am saying is that it is hard for me to come down TOO much on a guy who has (from appearences) lived the life he has while i watch implicit racism all around me everyday in the way people act and think (even if they know not to say 'the bad words').

What did Stern have to say about it anyways, I'd be interested to hear his comments on this.
As for Dog, if you listened to his phone call, the irony of him destroying 30 years of work by going on a tirade about how he's not going to take a chance of destroying 30 years of work is a little funny. What a year this guy is having! Gets arrested by the FBI and faces possibly being extradited to Mexico, and now he very well may have destroyed his whole show by going on some stupid tirade.
I was absolutely addicted to this show back when I discovered it in the summer of '06, and I still like it, but I wouldnt be surprised if A&E pulled the plug on it after this, what a dummy...also, does this mean the Dog the Bounty Hunter marathon scheduled for Saturday won't be on anymore?

Stern doesn't actually call people the N word. They use the word on the show. But Howard isn't racist at all. When he has the KKK on the show. He is making fun of how stupid they really are. For example he will have Family Feud, The Carvier's (KKK) vs Wendy the ######. The Carvier's are so stupid they don't even realize that they are being mocked. So the Carvier's drop the N bomb left, right, and center. But it isn't Howard saying the N word himself. Unless he is mimicking the Carvier's. I'm not sure if this is a clear explanation or not. Untill I started listening to the Stern Show on a regualar basis. I woudn't have been able to tell the differance either.

Ok fair enough. I've had Sirius radio since June and for some reason have never listened to Howard Stern even once(I'm so addicted to Sirius NFL radio I just can't flip the channel. I can't believe I was missing out on Adam Schein for three years), I'm just going off of what was being discussed on another message board, where I discovered this story.
What the hell am I gonna watch on Tuesday nights now? Just what the hell am I supposed to do?!?

I dont get why youre trying to defend Dawg, justify his actions or turn the spotlight on someone else. He got caught, he's admitted to it and has no defense.
As for showing you otherwise - youre the one that made the statement, back it up instead of "virtual guarantees" and other nonsense. You werent just picking one stereotype to balance the one against Dawg and happened to pick Republicans. Come on. It reeks of anti-Bush, anti-Republican rhetoric.
Dawg has led a tough life and tried to make the most of it with this profession/TV show/finding god BS. Is he a racist underneath and has covered it up to this point? Perhaps. Does it matter? No. The use of that word in that context is inexcusable whether he has black friends or not.

The thing that got me was that his spiritual advisor is black.
The person he is turning to right now for counsel is black.
Furthermore, while he stated that this did NOT justify his use of the word, he also said that the context was not correct. He was not using the N-word as a racist word for all blacks (although he admits it often is) but rather he was using it for this particular girl because he did not like her - he was allegedly using it in the 'street version' differentiating her from other blacks (blacks that he states in the taped convo he WOULD be fine with his son dating, just not THIS girl in question). That doesn't excuse it, but goes back to my point that he lives in a different world than most of the people up in arms about it. In his world THAT is how you use THAT word - for better or worse.
I just think the Imus thing, for example, was worse. Where he is from outside that world and is obviously quite racist in how he see's black people. Versus this Dawg guy who made a mistake but does NOT see blacks as less than whites. I am sure he has an equally bad term for a white women that he thought was not good enough for his son - at least by how he explains it after the fact. It is a different world.
Is being ignorant and stupid automatically racist? I don't know...
STILL not an excuse, i am just saying there is more to it than simply 'Dawg is a racist'.

I guess I just dont by his "excuse", "justification", "explanation" or whatever he's trying to pull here.
If she's (the girl) a loser, I dont see why he would use n***** to decribe her that way. His quote is fairly malicious and Im sure he has plenty of black friends, but to say the n-word repeatedly, even in the 'street version' (lame) is inexcusable.
I know youre not trying to say it's okay or defending Dawg, because frankly, he's not worth defending. I think his actions over his lifetime are evidence that he's one step away from being a societal liability at all times. He is a convicted felon who lives a life precariously close to his former life, surrounds his life with losers and crime, and continues to push the law to the envelope (Mexico).

So, has Chapman announced that he is going for counseling yet? It seems to be what the celebrities do when they offend a minority group (excluding the "whipping boy" minorities, of course).

Not that it makes it more right, but my guess is that Dawg simply didn't like the girl, and in an argument with his son, dropped the N-bomb 'cause that was the only insult he could come up with in a fit of rage.
It's like how my dad yells derogatory comments about an old lady cutting him off because she's Asian, which is awesome because we're Chinese lol.

Yeah, that's the kid. He took him into a prison just as he got out to share the moment that you don't want to end up back there. It was a touching piece but this kid sounds like a giant ###### to sell out his family like that...
Whether or not Dog said the N word or not, he did say it in private and was more or less baited into it by his low life money grubbing son.
Obviously, racism is a serious issue especially if you're on TV but I don't like how Dog was more or less conned into all of this stuff.
Personally, I believe people can say whatever they want in privacy... I am no racist but there's definetely some things I do say that I wouldn't be caught dead saying in public. I think most people are guilty of that at one time or another.

How was he conned? He doesn't appear to be goaded into saying it. Where is the foul play? He said it, and he's not denning he didn't say it.
Saying the n-word in a derogatory fashion in privacy is still racist. Just because that particular group isn't around to hear you say it doesn't make it any less racist.
