T.I believes he's the best rapper in the world. I don't agree with him, but I respect that he feels that way. So what if he says it out loud? We all love humble athletes and entertainers, but I admire that confidence from someone. For what he does, he is good. He is one of the best rappers from the south.
Most of the slang is from the street. The street is the everyday work - Before making rap records. It's that thing. I don't want to have to explain how they "grew up in the hustle", "sling rock", "blah, blah, blah".... that is tired. Not all rappers are rich from having platinum albums. If anything, they get screwed by record labels because they don't own any of their own music or publishing.

And so what would you suggest has "helped the language"? I agree that it doesn't help the language, but pinpointing rap music as the reason (like you did in the previous post) that English grammar has declined is ignorant. Slang words have always been just that - Slang. Pop culture just finds it's way to picking up on it, especially in hip-hop. I live in Calgary. I don't live in Atlanta, Los Angeles or New York, but I can still hear and understand what MC's say without having to completely act like them. I mean, I pick up on certan words, and phrases all the time, but where else do people get bad influences from in regard to their grammar? EVERYWHERE. From reading poor writing to text messaging and message boards, working beside that dude who just came to this country... It all contributes.
I went off, but it just seems as though you are pointing the finger at rap music.

You really didn't like my tongue in cheek comment about rap did you? And going back to that comment I didn't solely blame rap music. I also put some onus on the internet for wrecking havoc on our language:

I just believe that you may have stated yourself incorrectly. Perhaps you feel that way; I can't tell you anything, it's a message board. ...Whether it be blatant or tongue in cheek.

T.I. was in ATL (the movie), which was surprisingly a very good movie. He didn't do too bad in it either.

Somebody won't be coming to Canada anytime in the near future... remember how 50 Cent can't get into Canada either?

Snoop Dogg has a fair bit of trouble with the law but he got across the border and played @ the Corral (What's the deal with all the rappers coming to the Corral anyways?)

If the promoters of the show have all their ducks in a row and fill out the proper paper work, have all of the cash ready to go and deal with immigration efficently, any rapper can get across the border to perform on their tour. It's their job; Their means of income.
Most rap artists are booked for the Corral because it is the middleground venue in this city that caters to hip-hop artists. Most rappers' management or agents insist on booking larger venues rather than smaller, clubs because they want to make more money. Rap artists in the US rarely play small clubs unless they are for exclusive parties or the rapper is not a mainstream/pop artist. For example, Calgary does not have a larger venue for the bigger rap acts like The Commodore in Vancouver. However, it would not be able to fill a large venue like the Saddledome. All we really have is The Corral (which I feel is still too big) and more recently, The Whiskey (ie: Busta and Nas).
He's still set to perform on the BET Awards on Wednesday, but I can't really see him showing up in Winnipeg on Thursday. November 9 is still a long way to go, but it will be difficult for Black Ice Entertainment to get out of this mess.
