In the US, where TBS has its target audience, the Sox game was on from the beginning on its sister channel TNT....once the Yankees game ended it switched over to the BoSox game.
I think you need to blame Sportsnet or whomever for not having contingency plans in case a baseball game actually went overt its allotted time (like that doesnt happen every day of the season) and not the guys who payed to show the games in the US....they actually catered to their customers.

Sportsnet won't show games that create potential conflicts with hockey coverage. On Thursday, Sportsnet West didn't broadcast Game-1 of the Yankees-Indians series. The ball game started at 4:30 and the Oilers-Sharks game was scheduled for 7:00 pm. Since it's not uncommon for postseason baseball games to run four hours, Sportsnet isn't willing to put itself in a situation where it might have to dump out of the baseball game to switch to hockey. On Friday, Sportsnet Pacific didn't show either of the Yankees-Indians or Angels-Red Sox games because there was a Canucks game scheduled that evening.
I'm not defending Sportsnet. It's frustrating when there are no other options for some people to watch the game. If you have digital cable or satellite service, you could easily watch the games on one of the other Sportsnet regional channels.
I'm guessing that Rogers figures it gets a hell of a lot fewer angry responses by not showing baseball than if there were conflicts with any hockey game.
Myself, I was chomping at the bit when Game-2 of the Yankees-Indians went into extra innings because it meant I couldn't watch the start of the Angels-Red Sox. So I did what any Red Sox Nation faithful would do - I spent $10 for MLB's online TV coverage of the game. I watched the first couple of innings online.

Well thanks to those extra camera's for post season play Mathis couldn't get as close to the wall for that foul pop up from Ramirez and elbow that stupid kid in the chops and catch that ball to get the second out. If they get Manny there, and they get Lowell the Angels win that game 3-2 and head home with the series tied. Now they're down 2-0 and might not have Vladdy for the next game. What a rip off. I hope the Indians dismantle the BoSox in the ALCS.

If the teams like the Yankees, Red Sox and Cubs are out early....T.V. networks will complain. If those 3 and the Phillies all get to the LCS I imagine that the ratings will be pretty solid. But since it looks like it will be Cleveland, Arizona, Colorado, and the BoSox I imagine they'll be pretty mediocre. 3 of those 4 aren't exactly huge baseball markets, and don't have a lot of national appeal. I mean this has been the first time all year I think I've been able to catch a Rockies game on National T.V. type of thing.

That was a pretty pathetic performance by the Cubs. Worst situation hitting I've ever seen. Can't recall so many 3-1 pitches turning into weak ground balls and double plays.

Yeah, first time ever an all West NLCS. Quick put your hands up if you had Arizona and Colorado in the NLCS back in April. If anything I think people would have had the Padres and Dodgers being the two West teams in the playoffs. Quite a run by the Rockies though here of late.

Notice that graphic on TBS. Teams that have never won a post-season series.
Rockies, Devil Rays, Rangers..
They missed one

Yeah, I noticed that too...Than again it's easy to forget about the Expos/Nationals franchise. MLB did for about 3 years while they ran the spos.

Rip off? It's home field advantage. If it was Varitek going into the crowd, that kid probably lets the catcher make the play.

What???
They didn't have an LDS back than did they? Did the Expos win a playoff game that year to win the NL East and set up that series against the Dodgers in which Rick Monday broke everyone's heart?
edit..I see that the 1981 season was a split season due to a strike I think, and that the Expos did win a series. Interesting, it's before my time and I wasn't aware of that.
