Now the fido commercials are pretty interesting. Santa as a young man...the scrooge as the leader of anarchy 99.

I am glad that neither one cought on this time.
I hate all telus commercials as they are the same all the time. White background - check, Abused animal walking around amlessly - check, annoying music - check. Good job boys another commercial in the can.
|
Abused animal? Are you serious? Telus ensures that all the animals are VERY well taken care of to the point that all proceeds from the sale of hippos as well as the fee for having the hippo in the commercial went to building a larger, more adequate habitat for the hippo in the commercial. (He's at the Vancouver Zoo, IIRC.)

No blame on Sportsnet for not being able to sell to more varied advertisers, thus forcing us to watch the same ads every game?

Huh? What do they care? What are they gonna do, turn Telus away because the viewers might be sick of that song?
And besides, Mission: Accomplished. We are talking about it after all.

yes, and soon as you see a white background with animals, you know its telus and tune out to the actual message. I have no idea what they are even trying to tell me anymore, I just groan and change the channel.
telus ads make me want to hurt animals. see what it's come to!

Not really a good thing though, since most of us are talking about how much we hate it and how it is affecting our view of the company itself.
I go out of my way to not support companies that annoy me with bad advertising. If i have a choice, I do not use Telus.

I guess it depends. If brand recognition is the ultimate goal, which it probably is, and we all recognize Telus commercials and know what Telus does then I guess it worked.
I know I wouldn't be so annoyed with Hard-Hat Pizza-Man and the damn flamingoes if I didn't watch every hockey game that Sportsnet puts on. I would imagine others in the nerd-herd here are in the same situation -- we see the commercials more than most people.

I don't think the flamingo ad is that awful. The amount that they've played it has made it awful.

I actually started hating the panago commercial the first time I saw it. It's just some guy jabbering on and on about topings of a pizza to an animal. I don't get what the bison has to do with the pizza, unless they are implying the pizza is made out of bison. If that's the case, I'm pretty sure firefly has something to say about that.

They put some over by the university as well.. Of course they're all tipped over and half are destroyed on the road.. Great job Telus. Now you're marketing ****ty stuff/service AND you're littering.

That is true. I didn't hate it when i first saw it. Just thought it was odd and kinda lame.
The frequency now not only annoys me, but causes me to foam at the mouth everytime I see it.

You should see my apartment complex.
Telus decided to pay my Landlord/whatever company runs this complex money to put up their ads all over the walls, outside my door there are frequent ads for Telus.
Too bad someone keeps ripping them down (and its not me).

I was merely suggesting that if more than a handful of companies thought it was worthwhile to advertise on Sportsnet, we might not see the same ad 25 times a game. Of course Rogers won't turn down the money. but maybe Rogers could do a better job of selling the airtime.
Basically I hate Sportsent, so I thought I would take a jab at them.

Does Sportsnet even sell the ads or do the Flames not have a similar arrangement to the Oilers now?

Telus is the major sponsor for Flames hockey on SportsNET much like Bell is for the Oilers. I'm not in T.V. but I suspect part of the arrangement is to get one add per commercial break.

That's true, with Oilers hockey you certainly get your fill of Norm Macdonald and jellybeans.

It'd be much better if they even just alternated between the flamingos and the monkeys...

Speaking of ads, the ads on NHL.com are really ticking me off. The NHL '07 and NHL 2K7 ads particularily. I watch the hi-lights at NHL.com every morning, and you're force fed those two ads over and over again. Every 2 hi-light reels you're forced to watch one of those two damned ads. It's gotten pretty bad there.

- whats the song used in the flamingo commercial? "ive got my love to keep me warm..."
- panago guy and the advertising agency that created him must die a horrible death
- the m&m commercials are by far the worst - why is red such a dick when yellow asks him if santa will like the m&m's - and the one where they float in the air because of the air conditioning is ultra lame and makes me want to punch the wall every time i see it. sure doesnt make me wanna buy m&m's thats for sure
