Panasonics recieved the best reviews in consumer reports and have a very solid reputation. Other brands can equal Panasonics but you know for sure that the Pana is going to deliver.

Yeah, the simple black frame is tough to beat, not a big fan of the silver TV's...by the way you keeping that energy star sticker on the bottom right cuz it looks soooooo good?

I thought I heard somewhere that Plasma TV's were dated technolody and that is why the price is coming down. Is that true?

What technology isn't dated?

The price is coming down because of a) competition from LCD, and b) benefits of mass production. The numbers for Panasonic production alone are ludicrous.

The next display technology is SED. They've delayed 3-4 times, but the latest is that they "know how they'll be mass-produced and are building their factory and expect to start production in August 2007 and sell into Japan late '07", and they'll be available more widely in Asia for the 2008 olympics. US release maybe limited prior to the olympics but in relative quantity by summer 08 maybe....

I'm looking forward to SED. Sounds very promising, with lower power and much better black levels. In the spring it was supposed to be released by fall, but I hadn't heard it was now delayed until August. Toshiba is the big backer on this, are they not?

I was reading yesterday about Laser TV. It is like DLP, but instead of a bulb and colourwheel it uses lasers and can give a much more vibrant picture and cost much less than current DLP.

Lots of new tech in the pipeline.

Wal-Mart has 42" Digistar Plasmas for like $1600.

I personally would wait to see how SEDs and OLEDs do.
