The next display technology is SED. They've delayed 3-4 times, but the latest is that they "know how they'll be mass-produced and are building their factory and expect to start production in August 2007 and sell into Japan late '07", and they'll be available more widely in Asia for the 2008 olympics. US release maybe limited prior to the olympics but in relative quantity by summer 08 maybe....

I'm looking forward to SED. Sounds very promising, with lower power and much better black levels. In the spring it was supposed to be released by fall, but I hadn't heard it was now delayed until August. Toshiba is the big backer on this, are they not?
I was reading yesterday about Laser TV. It is like DLP, but instead of a bulb and colourwheel it uses lasers and can give a much more vibrant picture and cost much less than current DLP.
Lots of new tech in the pipeline.
