Or something for those crazy Nirvana people who want Cobain to be their savior.

All I can say is that I am glad it is not an Islamic reference she is making, otherwise there might be riots, and people getting killed.

And for the record, I think it is a cheap attention getting ploy.

I was a huge Nirvana fan, and still am although I don't listen to them regularly anymore.

I admit, they were really nothing special musically, but you have to look at the music industry when they came out and compare it relatively. The rock world was dominated by hair/glam rock, and was probably dying. Although the musicians were talented, the art was missing, and the music was pre-fabricated by corporate guys in suits and ties. Then came Nirvana with their minimalistic approach. Maybe I am thinking too romantically about this, but I truely believe that by bridging the gap from underground and independent rock to the mainstream, they quite possibly saved the genre - or at least improved it greatly. There is hardly a popular hard rock, garage rock, grunge, or metal band since Nirvana that cannot declare some of their success is the result of that door being openned.

But I can agree that musically, there were many before and after them that were better. I can't even imagine the kind of demi-god status an artist like Jack White would have acheived if he was around in the late 80's and early 90's.

Even the Beatles, who are unarguably the most infamous rock group ever, are musically inferior to other less popular groups... but it is really more about timing. In both instances, there was a generation looking to find itself.

"Nirvana has to be the most over rated band of all time."

That's insane!!! Nirvana and Kurt Cobain were the voice of the 90's Grunge generation.

Kurt Cobain was real. His voice and his lyrics captured the voice, emotions and listlesness those who listened to his music.

I still listen to Nirvana (and other 90's Grunge) from time to time and I miss Kurt Cobain. I'm proud to say that I've made the trip to Vrietta Park in Seattle and it was surreal to see all the messages written for Kurt on the benches. The whole experience was totally ethreal and surreal.

I don't think they are overrated as much as some of their Seattle colleagues are underrated. I much prefer Soundgarden and Alice in Chains to Nirvana, but love them all.

Are you sure that you aren't confusing Hole with Nirvana?
