Yeah, that's the league I'm in right now. It's pretty weak soccer for the most part, though. We play every Saturday, which is nice, and apparently there're supposed to be refs, although we've only had 1 after 3 games, and that one ref was terrible.

Are there any ball hockey leagues that start in the summer? I'm in one already, but its only once a week.
Its fun, but ice hockey is better in almost every way. For some reason I have trouble keeping the ball down with my slap shot. With a puck its usually max 2 ft off the ground, with a ball sometimes its like 6 or 7 ft.

This same momma's boy played Lacrosse and Hockey..... tough sports... not floor hockey, (as much as I like the sport) I don't have to shoot at someones nuts and laugh to prove to a poster named Green Tea that I am tough....
I just figured most hockey players and sports players in general respected that part of the body, because many of them had been sacked.
I am not going to address your fantasy .

I play with the Calgary Sport and Social Club. It's my first season with the league and I love it! There are several different levels of competitiveness, the schedules are pretty flexible (I play in a Sunday only league for instance) it's affordable and it's really fun. You can sign up as an individual, a small group or a full team!
The only thing is, they are really strict about high sticking penalties because no one wears protective gear. But it is a blast!
I think my team will be breaking up after the Summer season ends in early September. The Fall leagues start up Sept. 27th and I think it would be awesome to form a team with CPers! It costs less generally if we register as a group too!
PM me if anyone is interested.

The "Dutch Rudders" in Sunday Rec-Plus. (I did not pick the name, I swear!)
We are 0-5. A big part of that is that we often end up playing with only a couple subs. As a result, we all get frigging tired. Our first halves generally have been good. But in the second we collapse. Hopefully we pull off a win today.
If we form a CP team, I hope we can get it comprised of 5 guys, 5 gals or so. That way, we would always be fresh.

My current team will be done after this season. As individuals, we are not half bad. As a team, we suck royally.
My hope is to create a new team for the Fall season starting September 27th. Any interest? My hope is to play in a Sunday Rec-Plus or Sunday Recreational League as it is more about having fun and getting some exercise from my viewpoint.

My experience in the Recreational Plus level is that there are very few showoffs. The teams that win utilize all of their players. It's 4 vs 4 not including goalies, so everybody gets a good chance with the ball.
At Recreational Plus level, a pretty high percentage of the players have played organized hockey. I enjoy the challenge as a player, but man oh man do I ever get whupped as a goalie. I think I would want to drop down to Recreational perhaps for next season. If we can find a good goalie (AKA not me ), and some players on our team have played organized hockey, Recreational Plus may work.
There still would be standings, and the same rules generally apply, it just would be more fun.

I'd be down for floor hockey. I wonder if Glen Howard would let us have a Calgary Puckers team?

We could take a page from the PS3 NHL team's playbook: The Calgarypuck Fatas.

Just trying to get a preliminary idea here, but would Sundays work for most people? The one-hour games could start anywhere from 10AM to 3PM from my understanding.
