It was nice to see Gridin have a good first game after being recalled. He looked dangerous at times, blocked a shot, and also showed good judgement by making some simple safe plays.
It's obviously just his fifth NHL game and first since October, but if this is who he is, the kid looks ready.

Crowd gave nothing, lol. I was really hoping there would be a nice loud cheer when he stayed behind and high fived each Flames player off the ice. Then the third star had like 200 people left in the Dome and they just let out a tiny cheer reserved for any regular star selection. He did his goodbye without the fans, but that's okay, it was always about the teammates and the memories within the dressing room and on the ice.
Flames fans have never been great at that stuff, as many fan bases aren't. Montreal, Edmonton, New York, Chicago etc. There's a few special places for stuff like this, but most are just cookie cutter, come to the game, drink beers, entertain clients and have an outing fanbases, that's where we fall.

Flames fans have never been great at that stuff, though. It's a cooperate fan base for the most part.
90% of the dome probably has no idea Rasmus is about to be traded...

I assume the average fan would have no idea it was *maybe* his last game.

… this wasn’t going to be different in any other building in the league for a player from any other team. A handful of die hard rumour obsessed fans would be aware of it, and most of the building wouldn’t.

I don't think a lot of the casuals in Calgary even know Ras is getting traded, and most certainly aren't F5ing CP.
If you’re gonna leave the slot wide open, you’re gonna have a bad time

this team sure loves playing from behind

Not to be a pessimist but can we PLEASE beat bad teams too??

As anyone could have predicted since Calgary is so mid this would easily be one of the worst — hold on they scored again

First shot in a long time of obviously course goes in. We have more than double the shots the Flames have.

Afternoon game on the west coast against a struggling team. The only things that could make this more of a guaranteed L would be in the Flames were on a back to back with an AHL goalie.

That fourth goal wasn’t amazing, but I think Rittich hasn’t had a chance on most of these.
Like most of our games this season, defensive lapses and offensive malaise are more to blame than poor goaltending.

Dave is a big boy, he can take it. It's not like any of the goals were on him. No reason to put Ilya in this game rn.

No Save Dave today
4 goals on 10 shots
Quote:
Rittich going to be in for 7 today, eh?
Quote:
This game is not on Rittich. Goal 1 Sharangovich all alone at the hash marks after 2 D turnovers in theirnown end. If he doesnt score it's on him not good goaltending. Goal 2 a tip through about 3 players after Isles couldn't get it out. Rittich couldnt see. . Goal 3 no chance. A 2 on 1 where Pulock was so tired he just fell down and none of the other 4 back checked. Goal 4 a great shot as a D-man walks in uncovered.
Quote:
4 goals on 11 shots. Lets just say. no big saves from Dave today

I mentioned how much they play down to competition the night of the Preds loss, received bit of flack for my thoughts, and to be fair Nashville was 7-3 going into it. Since then they've found ways to beat the Wild (Sorokin) and Oilers (Again, Sorokin) but lose to the Jets and Flames. Not very confident about the Canucks game coming up.
Are the Isles a team that plays up and down to competition or is it that every crappy team they play all of a sudden get hot when they play the Islanders? Make it make sense? Because these Isles swept three from Tampa, 2 of 3 from Detroit and every good team in the west from the Avs, Stars and Wild to the Knights and Oilers. With today being a matinee game I prayed that they wouldn't pull a stinker and they did.
Quote:
We’ve had the net empty for over four minutes and I think we have one shot on goal
Edit now 2 shots

I’m not sure what more aggravating, the fact that we lose every goddamn afternoon game, regardless of how awful the opponent is, or the fact I think that this time we will be the game we finally buck the trend…
Quote:
We’re absolutely terrible with extra man
Quote:
Such a frustrating, inconsistent team. The Isles beat good teams, and lose to bad teams. It’s almost predictable. I knew they were going to lose this one to a team going nowhere and looking to sell. Just very frustrating.
