I love the way Andersson played for this team. As I said in the trade thread, the timeline just wasn't there. I want him to be on a winning team with a much greater chance to win the cup. At this time, that is NOT Calgary. I know he would love to come back here down the road if we are a team on the rise and could use a guy like him. Let's hope we can improve this team to the point where we could bring someone like him back.

Hopefully the fans can get a "Rasmus" chant going when he comes back. I'm expecting to see some tears from Ras at the video tribute on his time as a Flame.
Don't think I've ever seen such a cordial parting between a player and team. Reflects super well on the player and the GM.

I always believed Ras would end up our future Captain.
To think about how far he’s come since he was drafted is pretty incredible. I think about the Hakan Loob interview where he said Ras was “a little fat, a little lazy”. Jay Feaster had to at one point tell him to get serious and get in shape.
Now he’s an Olympian. He grew up here.
Probably one of the best leaders our team has had since Iggy left. He’s represented the City and the jersey with nothing but class. So cheers to Ras I wish him all the best.

Jay Feaster was never the GM at any point in Rasmus' tenure with the Flames. Feaster was fired in the 2013-14 season and Treliving was hired before the 2014 draft. Rasmus was drafted in 2015.

These guys come in and it’s always a nice polite one. You serve them because you dont want to cause a scene. And then they become a regular and after awhile they bring a friend. And that dude is cool too.
And THEY bring friends and they stop being cool and then you realize, oh, this is a Nazi bar now. And its too late because they’re entrenched and if you try to kick them out, they cause a PROBLEM. So you have to shut them down.

Perhaps I misremembered who. Perhaps it was Treliving that had to have the talk with him. I definitely remember a story about him not taking diet/training seriously around the time after we drafted him.
I would not mind seeing him stay one bit. Love the character, leadership and compete.
I remember how the org traded Iggy because it just had to be done, and got absolutely nothing of value for him, then the next year Monahan came in and the next year they had a surprise playoff appearance, while he was still pretty productive as a Bruin
It would have been cool to see Iggy with the Johnny and Monny crew

Going to miss Ras a lot when he moves on, one of the best defenders we've ever drafted and is such an entertaining player to watch. Will miss the stare downs and just his personality in general.
I still recall all the "Fatmus Sandwichsson" comments shortly after he was drafted and how he was going to be a bust because of that and boy did he ever prove those people wrong!

Really love Rasmus. In among my favourite Flames, especially from that era. Up there with Johnny and Monahan. Really wished we got to see that group play out through their primes together.
Not a lot of players can have jersey staying power (ie, no regrets on a jersey name/number), but I'd say he's one. An Andersson jersey will be evergreen(red).
Will be able to cheer him on in any colours that aren't blue/orange. And we know he would die before pulling on that ugly shirt.

Yeah, it hurts. I'm glad he made the Flames quarter century team, he was one of our true heart and soul players of the past decade. So many great memories over the years and watching him transform from the chubby 2nd round swing trying to salvage the Baertschi mess, eventually growing into a top pair Olympic caliber defenseman has been a treat. A few rough patches here and there, it happens, but overall I loved his attitude, his effort and his blunt honesty. Go win a cup Ras.

Let’s just start “[Trade] Rasmus Anderson to … for … “ thread. I mean it’s a done deal anyway, right?
