The NHL’s first season was big for Joe Malone of the Montreal Canadiens. On Jan. 28, 1919, he extended his goal-scoring streak to 11 games when he scored the only goal in a 5-1 loss at the Toronto Arenas. His streak began in the NHL’s very first game against the Ottawa Senators, on Dec. 1917. Malone’s goal on this night was his 25th of the season, on his way to finishing with a league-leading 44.

Three years later, on Jan. 28, 1922, Harry “Punch” Broadbent matched Malone’s streak by scoring a goal in his 11th game in a row during the Senators’ 2-1 win at the Toronto St. Pats.

Then Oilers brass made an angry phone call to Rogers HQ in Toronto and had it pulled!

Petit and Reese were possibly better than Nattress and Manderville. I think it's fair to say that Risebrough gave up the three best players in the deal and got the three worst.

I understand there were liability issues that made the Flames want to unload Gilmour. But, geez Louise, trading Gilmour for Leeman one for one would have been bad enough. There was no earthly reason to bundle four more one-for-one trades in and lose every one of them.
I have also thought about this and if you rank the players 1 through 10, I suppose it looks slightly better for the Flames. My ranking based on their subsequent careers:

Gilmour
Macoun
Petit
Berube
Manderville
Godynyuk
Leeman
Nattress
Reece
Wamsley

The one thing is that Nattress and Wamsley were basically at the end of their careers. Turns out Leeman was too.

Still a total fleece. Gilmour worth more than the other 9 players combined, And Macoun worth more than the remaining 8.
