I wonder if the new NCAA rules have had any impact in diluting the CHL talent. Many of the high end draft eligible players are now playing college hockey.. It would be more concerning if Iggy Jr wasn't putting up dominant numbers.

Hopefully, Tij becomes a great player in the NHL. If he's anything like his dad, then the NHL community could use another person like this

I loved and still love the Parekh pick... but trading a potential Erik Karlsson (Parekh) for Iginla and then drafting a potential Ekblad (Verheoff) wouldn't be terrible thing.
(If we had a crystal ball to see where we're drafting, that is.)

But remember Utah picked Iginla over Zayne, so more than likely 1:1 doesn't get it done. Calgary is still adding.

A lot. Take Zayne Parekh and double it. As much star potential as Parekh has I think Utah has a future cornerstone player in Tij Iginla, especially if he's a center. I hate fan rating systems - star superstar generational - but Tij has future captain star forward written all over him. Really smart hockey player with the ability to play a two way game already. If he continues to work on his foot speed.. Star star star

We had our chance at Tij and missed it.
We went 4-2 in our last 6, one of which was beating the coyotes in game 80. We had no chance at playoffs at this point.
We actually could of gotten as high as Demidov playing .300 instead of .700 hockey. The Habs went on a full outs slide in the last 2 months losing 8 of their last 10.
The meaningless moral victories at the end of the seasons can really hurt..

Only by a few picks. Plus, Iginla was out for his D+1 with an injury. I'd argue Zayne has more value as of right now.

Lets see how Zayne looks in a few years before crying about this one...the high end dman is more valuble than the high end winger
like this thread is about WHL player of the month...Zayne was breaking Bobby Orr records 2 years ago at that level

If we had a chance to draft Tij I would have still taken Zayne over him.

Well we don't where they had Zayne ranked. He could have been their next guy if Tij was gone. Or they could have had him much later. All we know is they had a choice and they picked Tij.
Tij for Zayne is probably a deal both clubs say no to.

Why because Iggy jr. is lighting up the WHL at 19 (with less points than Zayne had on D at that level)
not suggesting they won't both be players but why is Iginla ranked better? His name? I think we will be reminded of what Zayne is in a couple of weeks here.

Don't care about his last name at all or the lineage. Zanye's holes are glaring and in order to overcome them he's going to need to score a bunch of points, which I think he's capae of. Tij Iginla is just a well rounded player you can build a team around.
Honestly anyone bringing up his name as some sort of question of praise hasn't been paying attention to the discussion.

I mean they are the same age and and Tij is in the WHL...not sure how you can say Tij wouldn't have holes at the NHL level because he certainly would. If he didn't he would have made the Mamonth. Its more glaring when you play D obviously. The fact is Zayne had better offensive numbers playing D at a younger age in the CHL than Tij will playing forward.
Honestly they might both be great players but what Zayne did in junior is far more rare...record setting you might even say.

Crying? F***, are you ever antagonistic.
Also, the fact you still keep calling him a winger like you did when you were lol-ing at everyone wanting to draft him (in spite of people telling you even then that he was a center)... brick wall syndrome at its finest.
Ps. This is a thread about Jarome Iginla's son being the player of the month n the WHL. Not unlike the thread that was created about Jarome Iginla's son being drafted into the WHL. There was lots of talk about Zayne Parekh, but since he's not the son of the greatest player to ever play for the Flames, that talk was done in the draft thread(s).

He missed most of last season with double hip surgery, and most of the start of this season because he was rehabbing with the Utah Mammoth. He's only played 38 WHL games since we was drafted. He has 27 goals and 59 points in those 38 games, and just won the award for being the best player in the WHL during the last 13 of them.
For all intents and purposes, Iginla is only right now playing his D+1 year, which Parekh played last year. If it weren't for the age rules, Parekh would not be in the NHL this season - he'd have been playing for the Wranglers instead. There is a very good posibility that Tij Iginla is a top-six center for Utah in the NHL next season.
