Water is not wet. What water touches becomes wet.
The charges are not surprising given what he did in Vancouver when I lived there. I posted stories about him at the time but they were removed by CP mods as they didn’t want rumours on the site, even with evidence.

Hmm the description of the crime makes it sound serious but the penalty is pretty small, so there's a mixed message here.

Don't know what he did or if he is guilty but I felt but it's not surprising that an unlikeable player could be an unlikeable person off the ice.

Just when you thought that those Canucks teams were the most unlikable bunch, it gets way worse. I always hated the tumbleweed.

The crime wasn't described, the definitions of what it could be are vast based on the wording of fourth degree criminal misconduct.
Reading the link provided by Sureloss it could be anything from a grope to statutory rape.

Sure, but a max of 2 years or $500 is pretty skimpy.

Not the point of the thread, but it's alarming that the legislation has to differentiate between people under 16 and people under 16 who are married to the alleged abuser. Yikes.

The higher the number, the less serious the offence. Fourth degree is the lowest in Michigan and is just a misdemeanor, not a felony.
It's unwanted touching of a vulnerable person.

Agreed, I think the 2 years is a much bigger deterrent than the $500 but then you get into income based punishment.
Kesler is a millionaire, $500 won't hurt him as much as a guy at 7-11.

The biggest impact for him would likely be that a conviction would make him a registered sex offender.

Looks like the difference between 4th degree and 3rd degree is 3rd degree specifically states sexual penetration. 3rd degree is a max sentence of 15 years.
Also guessing that since the incident happened on January 1st, it is more likely that it involves someone who was drunk and couldn't consent than underage people, but we will likely now more at the probable cause hearing.

So I guess that makes him eligible to work in the Oilers organization.

Agreed
If he cornered a server in a club and groped her, I'm satisfied with the registered sex offender tag. No one should be subject to unwanted anything, and therefore an appropriate tag to carry in perpetuity. If he groped a 15 year old at a house party, I hope he goes to jail.

While I generally avoid having opinions about individual events like this, it's a little hard to imagine any version of this where Kesler isn't an absolute POS that should see some jailtime.
